So I'll admit I was a purist and got my panties in a knot when Malifaux 2.0 came out and changed my beloved crews but I do miss playing the game and I would really like to get back into it. Looking into the new edition though I have some questions. Note I have not yet purchased the new book or the new cards.

My favorite crew has always been Colette (though I have a number more) and it seems as though the rules for her aren't in the big rulebook or in the faction deck? On the same note, I have all the old models for Perdita, Colette, Nicodem, and Kirai but obviously no cards. Should I buy the faction decks or is there a way to just get the cards I need?

Also, I understand you now buy abilities for your masters, do you generally buy them all or buy just 1 or 2. I know the answer is it depends but in a general sense, what is a more appropriate method?

The decks are the best way to go about it, and the minis are split between wave 1 and 2 (1 covers the 1e core minis except leveticus's crew and half of the ten thunders, wave 2 covers the rest except the avatars, and there are some new minis in both books, though the 2nd has most of the new masters).

The other way to get cards is if people have the decks and got the plastic kits, meaning Nicodem and Perdita's will be easy enough to find, but Kirai just came out at gencon and colette hasn't gotten plastic minis yet.

With masters, you'll usually be buying 2-3 upgrades, and usually they'll be the master-specific ones since they're the best. Limited ones are mutually exclusive, and the "x Stone" ones are rarely taken in my experience (I think they were hedging when they made them).
