Ok, so here's a Big Mech I did, quite fond of how he turned out, despite forgetting I wanted to paint yellow until after I'd primed him black

I have a test paint of an Ogre warrior, still not sure

and this is the Corporation team plus referee, but it's from before I got my current lightbox setup so not the best pictures

That month was an "add hair to your mini" challenge, so it's my first attempt at greenstuff modeling - the Infinityesque ref hair, and the Fu Manchu moustache on the Guard

Rabbit is fine, and thanks! He's got red skin, and then I wanted to see if I could achieve some kind of rough, dirty colour and texture, so I painted his skin with Typhus Corrosion. I think it mostly captured what I was looking for.

Nice elves! I like how the leader appears to be trying to do a Darth Vader to the opposing general

Cheers, competition I'm in had freehand as the monthly challenge, seemed like a good idea

The paint is AK Interactive True Metal Dark Aluminium, polished as best as I was able. It like to spread itself everywhere via your fingers if you aren't careful, but gives a great finish.

My first KoW army, first members of it

Mantica Ogres are from the Mammoth Steppe, separating the rest of Mantica from the frozen wastelands in the north. I pictured it as being a little like the Eurasian Steppe crossed with the Dothraki Sea, so it's normal grass but grows tall and as far as the eye can see barring odd islands of trees, which is why the Ogres are so big, and why they dominate the steppe - it's too tall for humans and elves to fight in on foot, but just short enough for Ogres to fight on foot, while still being tall enough for them to hide in for hunt and ambush. In my head the grass is about 6" tall, because Ogres in the fluff are "twice the size of men".

My Ogres are 4 different reds (VMC Carmine Red, VMC Sunset Red, Reaper HD Garnet Red, Minitaire Innards) all washed in SW Purple, and there's a possibility I'll pick a darker red again for when I get to Grokagamok and other heroes. The middle rear warrior is different than the others, because he was a test paint to pick a scheme that I did last year, and I didn't want to bother stripping him to match the leathers and clean off his muddy skin.

I made the grass very uneven, gave the shooters and boomers thick grass to shoot from on the flanks, gave the warriors thinner grass because cavalry has already been through it, and the giants stomped all theirs down already.

Giants are Reaper Bones Hill Giants, bases are movement trays from Back2base-ix

I've got some big plans for the future with 3rd party bitz and minis alongside the rest of my Mantic Ogres

Dumb luck for me, but those giants really suit the Ogre aesthetics, as well as being the size I wanted.

I found a place that does really nice 28mm minis of prehistoric animals, getting a woolly mammoth to be a Mumooth is only the beginning

Time for a bump, because Ogres are cool and good, and so are their pets

This is Woolly Mammoth #1 from Acheson Creations

Everything "done" so far, a regiment each of boomers and shooters, and a 2H Warrior horde that still need the grass on their bases, plus two more ASBs that need a fair bit more work. Then I need to invent an emblem to put on the standards.

What once was a regular Ogre warrior and a DeeZee miniatures Woolly Rhino is now an Ogre captain on chariot with magnetised left arm, shield

and crossbow

His melee weapon is cobbled together from a skewer, a one handed sword, and a one handed axe, and placed in a drilled out hand where the sword used to be, and the crossbow is converted by having the right hand cut off of it from a regular two handed crossbow. I'll probably add some reins to the rhino in the future.

That's also the heraldry of my Ogre company on the saddle blanket, which he has because he is of course Inspiring
