So, I was thinking:

Daemons, in the warhammer 40k universe, have been shown to be able to possess things.

The things they possess tend to be mutated by said possession.

There exists, in the 40k universe, a large number of lesser races that have yet to be explored solely because they are not a large enough presence to matter.

Races have, in the past, shown a great aptitude for both the capability to interact with and control the power of the warp (ex, eldar), as well as an aptitude for adapting foreign biology into their own (ex, kroot and tyranids).

All of this in mind, I was thinking, could there potentially be a race made up of beings that were, by nature, strongly connected to the warp, as well as naturally good at adapting?
And, if there were such a race, could they have been possessed by daemons, and instead of dying because of it, adapted and evolved to a symbiotic level with it?

And, if such a race did exist, would the demons, especially those like Nurgle and Tzeentch, be interested in including them in their own ranks? These creatures that have adapted to being perfect receptacles for possession and the influence it has on them?

If that were the case... could the daemons, directed by their commanding chaos gods, not potentially move this race through the warp, and seed it onto other planets, so that it could grow and prosper in that way? Perhaps, even, sending daemons to lead and protect them, teaching them to worship the chaos gods and how to best harness their power?

Because, if that were the case... Chaos would have another force, one that could be potentially unique unto itself, perfectly capable of potentially engaging its enemies as a new army with the 40k universe.

_______

That said, that's the premise I've been thinking of for a custom race. Is there any existing lore that would out-right refute the possibility of this being a thing? And, would anyone be interested in a race like that, to the point they might consider playing it if it ever became an army?

Given that we have CSM possessed, and that the fluff contains the Enslavers (creatures born of the pre-god warp that manipulate physical races), it's practically confirmation.

Have at it!
