Hi all, just getting back into the game after awhile and relearning how to play again with the new edition. After a practice game with a friend earlier (who is just starting to play 40k himself) I ran into this scenario.
I had a CM riding a bike attached to a bike squad getting shot at by Wraithguards.

My question comes from bikes and their jink saves.

I remember in 6th as long as my bikes moved they get their jink saves, but this time I have to elect if I want to use it making them snap shot on the next turn. (Or maybe I am wrong on this one)

On my turn here's what I did and correct me if I'm wrong:
A) I did not use my Chapter Master's Orbital Bombardment because you can't snap shot blast/large blasts.
B) I fired my bikers bolters, and gravguns (at full salvo) but as snapshots
C) Declared assault, got hit by 1 overwatch and decided to use jink to save (which I did)
D) Proceeded to roll the necessary distance for my assault and got into melee.

Thanks. Really wanted a clarification if what I did was correct because I might have missed any new rules with regards to jink/assaults and snap shots.

You played it right as long as the jink save was the best save you could use, and as long as his weapon doesn't have the ignores cover rule.

If I sound like I'm being a condescending butthole, I'm not. Read my reply as neutrally as possible, please and thank you.

Do i understand it correct that your unit used snapshots because you wanted to use jink afterwards?

If yes, than you dont have to. The jink special rule tells you only have to declare jink if you are selected as the target of a shooting attack. Until the end of their next turn they'd be bound to snapshots only if they decided to jink.

In your case you are shooting at the target unit with your full BS in your shooting phase. Then you declare assault in your assault phase and the target unit selects you as the target of its shooting attack (and you are allowed to jink). If you decide to do so in your next shooting phase they are going to snapshot. No need to snapshot if you didnt jink before your shooting attack.
