I have experimented with a few combinations but haven't quite found one I really like.
What I want: a nice lighter-shade leather look.
What it is for: Ork pants. Ork vehicle straps. Ork backpacks. Though not all on one model!
I already have a dark leather combo I am in love with - I'd like a lighter one for variation.
My dark leather recipe that looks awful until it dries and then looks wonderful: Rhinox>Doombull>Tuskgor
I'd prefer to use the Citadel line, since those are handy and available today.
I am reluctant to show something specific since I am open-minded to other tones, not to mention everyone's display has its own biased color tones, but something in this neighborhood, maybe?
I've tried a lot of receipes for painting leathers throughout the years. And I've come to the conclusion that what works best for me is pretty simple and uses only 3 painting pots :
- snakebite leather
- devlan mud
- bleached bones
These are from the previous range, but I guess there are similar colors in the current one.
I use snakebite as basecoat. I shade it with devlan mud. And then, I highlight with snakebite and snakebite/bleached bones mixes.

As for the Old-to-New paint name translation, I am guessing, as per the Dakka Paint Conversion Chart:
Balor Brown is the new Snakebite
Agrax Earthshade is the new Devlan Mud
Ubshabti is the new Bleached Bone
And before the frothing Devlan Disciples, Snakebite Sycophants and Bleached Bone Brute Squad gather up their Xacto knife pitchforks and Red Sable Size 00 torches in order purge the paint heretic, I am aware that the new colors are not specifically the same colors, but only pale comparisons!
I'll give this a go, and readily accept other recipes, as well.
I'd like to have more leather options than a chainsaw massacre.
EDIT: Thanks, ScootyPuffJunior, though I did watch that already. Very useful in terms of technique, but I lack two of the three pots.

I'f you want old Citadel, you're better advised to look at Coat D'arms or Vallejo Game Colour on the conversion chart. As you acknowledge, a lot of the new Citadel colours are not good matches and those two are much closer if not downright the same (Coat D'arms is made by the same company that used to do the Citadel line).

To paint the leather in that video I posted you need three GW colors: Mournfang Brown (Bestial Brown), Balor Brown (Snakebite Leather), and Agrax Earthshade (Devlan Mud)
That will get you close enough to the colors used in the video and if you want to lighten the final highlight, add some Ushabti Bone (Bleached Bone). You can also lightly stipple the highlight to give it a worn leather look.
