Disbeliever of the Greater Good

APO AE

First the fluff:

250 years ago the forward scouts of Cry'tal Sept landed on the planet Olonga. They were astonished to find two intelligent, yet entirely different, races living in a semi-symbiotic relationship. The dominant species, the Simar, were large ape like beings that were formed into tribes that closely resembled cadres. And the Oaken, who were mobile plant creatures that resembled trees.

When the Fire Caste made land fall, they were attacked by the Simar who used crude powder based projectile weapons and wore rough beaten iron armor. Fierce battles raged and heavy loses were taken on both sides. The vast numbers of the Simar nearly over coming the Cadre many times. The Simar adapted their tactics quickly, picking up weapons of fallen firewarriors and using them to great effect. The Simar war-chiefs or Silverbacks began forming their warriors in to 3 man teams and using hit and run tactics that were the signature of the Cadres Crisis teams. They used the smaller, more agile members of their species in 10 or 12 man squads to form gunlines or mobile harassers. A third and even smaller sub species acted as scouts. The interesting thing about the scouts was their ability to move through the air on vestigial wings. (FLYING MONKEYS)

Of even greater concern was the fact that squads of firewarriors and pathfinders would go into the woods and disappear. The Oaken were able to blend in so well with the “normal” trees of the forest as to be indistinguishable. They were also found to be able to absorb non-natural element and make use of them. Dead oaken were found with pulse rifles imbedded in their branches and when autopsies were preformed it was discovered that the Oaken were actually able to operate the weapons. Further investigation found that Oaken could assimilate Kroot DNA and the creatures could taken on kroot-like aspects although Tau DNA wasn't able to be absorbed.

After nearly a year of heavy fighting, the ethereal. Var'han and his assistants were dispatched to try and quell the fighting. They arrived on planet and made their way to the largest Simar war camp and were instantly escorted to the Great General Ko'ng. Like they had done millennia before, they came out of the meeting hours later and the fighting was over. General Ko'ng sent messengers to every sub commander and to the Great Grove of the Oaken that all fighting was to instantly cease and the the Tau were now allies.

The Air Caste emissaries and Earth Caste technicians moved in quickly to establish the Greater Good in this new colony and in less than 2 years from the time of discovery the entire system was in the hands of the Tau. It's outer planets rich in heavy metals and rare gasses. The planet Olonga's seas full of eatable life and quite suited to host weary warriors as an R&R station.

In the two and a half centuries since Olonga and it's native inhabitants have joined the Greater Good of the Tau Empire, vast changes have been wrought. The powder based weapons and beaten iron armor has been replaced and new vehicles based on the Hammerhead pattern have been developed. The Simar have fully embraced the Greater Good and, along with the Oaken, have found a productive place in Tau society.

The Earth Caste was able to adapt XV-8 and XV-88 to fit the Simar frames and the Fireblades began training Simar cadres. Their ability to adapt, or ape, made the Simar cadres easy to train making the Fireblades' work that much easier.

The Oaken ability to absorb and assimilate alien technology still baffles the Earth Caste but they have been able to develop a weapon system that the Oaken have found acceptable and have become quite adept at using with sniper like accuracy.

The Sept leaders have a small Tau garrison and training cadre on Olonga but the majority of the forces are Simar and Oaken warriors.

If my maths are correct this is right on 1850 points.
I did the FE/TE allies as it fits my fluff well. I want this list to be fun to play as well as competitive. It started because I don't like the Kroot hound models and grew from there. I got the idea to use Dryads as kroot and was looking for a monkey to use as a hound. When I ran across the AT-43 Karmans I expanded the list and worked up the fluff. (I love to know a little bit of the "why" when I'm building lists) I will be posting pics both here and at Advanced Tau Tactics.
I hope you enjoy and C&C is welcome and appreciated.

Its a little bit confusing to read.

What is the krootox adding to the kroot?

Looks like a decent enough tau list.

I do drugs.
Mostly Plastic Crack, but I do dabble in Cardboard Cocaine.
