I love the fluff for GK and am desperate to make it work. I think that they can be a great alpha strike but need to backed up by another army to shoot destroy av13 14 and air and camp on back objectives

Can any one help with an army list that is competitive.

I was thinking

GK

Librarian ML3 Terminators NDK's
AM
Command squad and some wyverns?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated?

Why would GKs need help with AV13-14? They are one of the best armies for dealing with it. Grab Psycannons and watch armour melt.

If you're taking AM then Wyverns are fantastic and help with Horde Control. Though command squads are poor. Take Pask the best HQ in the game and take a comms relay.

The issue you'll have is that AM will dilute your alphastrike particularly at lower points levels like 1500.

GKs are not as good at av13-14 anymore. Psybolt nerf hurt bad. Psycannon salvo "nerf" hurt all PAK delivery platforms. Only die hard AT we have is the storm raven and it sits in reserves until at least T2, with us reliably needing coms relays or psychic powers to get in on time.

assuming you're running the nemisis strike force , if you choose to run a command squad I'd say a master of the fleet is ALMOST a mandatory upgrade

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

Thanks for the tips.

Have just realised that all paladins can take melta bombs, so I'm thinking of getting them in there to blow up a tank or MC on the second turn in assault with.

This is true but a couple hammers in those squads is probably all you need for defeating a tank in melee. After using Hammerhand you're looking at 6+ attacks with Strength 10 Ap 2. (I say 6+ assuming you have 2 hammers, charging and possibly a banner giving them up to 4 attacks each)

Psybolt Dreads were great against AV10-12, they were OK vs AV13 but Psycannons were and still are the GKs way of dealing with AV14 (twice as effective as a lascannon). I don't think you'd use PAGKs in this codex other than Interceptors with Incinerators. The Terminators are so cheap now and Psycannons are dedicated AT fire.

I'm starting to think that SM allies are stronger. My list looks something like this

GK
Librarian ml3
Terminators hammer
Paladins hammer hammer
NDK teleporter incinerator
Dreigo

SM
Librarian
Scouts
Scouts
Centurions grav guns omniscope

Scouts will camp backfield objectives the centurions will run with librarians who will aim to get GOI. The paladins will run with dreigo and also jump to where needed in higher points games run another NDK and librarian. Terrminators will deep strike turn 1.

Jimbanana123 That's a fairly weak version of that list. Swap the libby for Tigirius and roll for Invisibility, swapping to divination once you've got it. Run Draigo with the Grav Cents for guaranteed gate. Then divination for the GK libby (swapping to santic for Sanctuary and Vortex if Tiggy has Divination). Then you have a twinlinked invisible deathstar bouncing round the table killing everything. Draigo also provides the tank that the unit desperately needs due to no invun.


Then take Psycannons everywhere you can including the Dreadknight. 1 unit if scouts in a LSS will in general achieve more than 2 units on foot and is 10 points cheaper!
