Hello,

I am new and trying to compose a list from what I already have. 1000pts seems like a good place to start, but I am noticing that 1,500pts seems a lot more common. What should I change out and/or add to this to make it better. A list with points helps since I am not completely familiar with the point values yet (including weapons/addons).

1x Space Marine Captain
10x Tactical Space Marines
10x Tactical Space Marines
5x Space Marine Terminators
1x Space Marine Dreadnought

Thank you and I appreciate everyone that has helped with my other posts to get me a little closer to finishing an army!

Hello and good luck!

Heres a list (not allowed to post individual points values)

HQ
Captain, power fist, artificer armor, storm shield, digital weapons 160

10 tactical, grav gun, missile launcher 165

10 tactical, grav gun, missile launcher 165

5 terminators 200

venerabel dreadnought with plassma cannon and extra armor (165?)

And your at around 850. Your not going to have the models for 1000 points. I would go for 750 with what you have.

To do that with this list, just subtract the dreadnought.
Then upgrade captain to chapter master, and add melta bombs to tactical seargents.

Besides magnets, how do you all add weapons to specific units so easily? Or do you just have so many spares that you can swap them out?

So I read through the new Space Marine Codex I got and I think I did the math correctly. Let me know if I am wrong and what the correct total would be (I understand that you can't give me the specifics per item, no worries i'll look them up). It's just hard to understand the Codex since it's my first time reading through one entirely.

Vulkan Hestan 190 pts (pg 112 & 162)

10x Tactical Marines
-Meltagun
-Multi Melta
-Combi-Melta
Rhino
~220 points

10x Tactical Marines
-Meltagun
-Multi Melta
-Combi-Melta
Rhino
~220 points

5x TH/SS Terminators
Land Raider Crusader
~440 points

Dreadnought
-Multimelta
~105pts

10x Sternguard Vet's
-4x Combi-Flamer
-4x Combi-Melta
Rhino
~325 points

total: 1,500

Is there anything I am lacking? Also, am I able to take more than one combi-flamer/combi-melta/multi-melta, etc?? I wasn't sure how many I could take per squad, or what was effective enough.

Hi and welcome to forum! Looks like a pretty good list overall. Would you be willing to swap out all those rhinos for drop pods? Salamanders are brilliant at drop pod assault and means you could have 2 full drop pods coming down turn one and reducing some armour/knight to slag.

I think the assault terminator squad is slightly out on points as the just a basic terminator assault squad and LRC costs 460 if I remember the codex correctly.

Sternguard might be slightly over kill on the combis. I would drop the combi flamers and put just one heavy flamer then you can combat squad the meltas into one and the heavy flamer into another. That coming out a drop pod would be nasty.

Overall, good list!

Thanks, both of you.

I'll have to double check the terminators points. What's your thought on splitting up the sternguard group that way?

I didn't pick drop pods because I don't know how to use them

Well because of combat squads pg76 it means you can split the squad in half when they deploy from the drop and are treated as separate units. So it means you can pop a tank with the combi meltas then using the heavy flamer and the special issue ammo cook anything that disembarks or light up a nearby infantry squad.

No problem, they are brilliant especially with objective secured. The rules can be found on pg99. Read the special rule 'drop pod assault'.

Thank you. I'll read up on all of this tonight and then re-post a list for final review. Have to make sure the army makes sense before I drop money upgrading it

In the meantime, instead of opening a new thread, how would you make this into a 1000 point army?

I think a Vulkan based drop pod army is one of the strongest things out there right now. Switch Rhino's to drop pods if you can. Consider MM attack bikes as well.

For 1k drop the termies and shave some points from the sternguard (or make them another tac.)

I would also choose the Redeemer variant of the LR over the Crusader, Salamanders get a bonus when shooting flamers so IMO it would be worth switching. As recommended Drop Pods are good. I only run one for the Sternguard, which means they can come in turn one and usually blow something important up!

Apart from that this list is very similar to the one I run except I have a Storm Raven that transports my Dreadnought with TL Heavy Flamer. The points for it come from running only 5 Sternguard vets and my HQ being 60 points cheaper than Vulkan.

I've only played one game so far but it is a good fun list, the TH/SS Hammernators are especially good fun (and brutal) so I'm definately sure you will have fun playing games with your list
