My friends just opened their own game store and they're looking for suggestions on terrain to attract miniature gamers. I suggested they should at least get the citadel battlemats, but I had no idea they are out of production and go on ebay for about $80++ (got mine for $30). The minis guy is working on making some terrain and table tops using foam, and for now we have been using the miniclips terrain for Relic knights and 40k.

What I'm asking is if you folks have any leads on decent terrain for relatively low prices. They've mentioned thay can't drop a huge amount of money on terrain/tabletops since they've only been open 2 weeks (its why the minis guy is going DIY - but that will take awhile). I've trolled ebay and i see regular buildings type terrain going for 40-50$. I probably will help out by just buying a bunch myself and leaving it at the store to use, but im trying to find good deals. Thanks a lot

Could be worth them advertising for terrain 'donations' from local gamers - even bits of e.g. leftover GW Cities of Death terrain sprues could be useful. And other modellers may be happy to help assemble and paint it.

Maybe some sort of terrain building/conversion competition, with rules making it _very clear_ that the store keeps all entries, and prizes (e.g. store vouchers) for winners?

What about a 'terrain night'? I bet you could get some of the local gamers to get together at the shop and build some terrain on a couple Thursdays or whatnot for the shop. I bet in a few weeks the shop would have some great terrain that all the local gamers will be proud of.

Great suggestions. I will definitely toss it to them. They just did an apocalypse event this weekend (which i missed) but ill find out later how it went and what they did for terrain. Maybe that should be enough to convince people to leave their house bunkers and game in their shoo instead.

Styrofoam and cardboard This is how I built all my ruins and buildings, then i painted it all up. You don't get much cheaper than that.
