Hey guys,

I am about to play against a friend playing both Eldar and Tau. Not sure who I will face yet, but here is my idea:

Big Mek SAG, Lucky Stixx, 3 ammo runts
3 Mek Gunz, KMK, 3 ammo runts, 3 extra gretchins

Painboy, 29 Boyz, Nob PK BP

Painboy, 29 Boyz, Nob PK BP

2 Dakkajets, extra shootas

Thanks for your C&Cs!

well, first off is the enemy using fliers, or have units with skyfire? if not, be fair and don't use flyers. secondly, shootas or sluggas? also a few trukks wouldnt hurt either way

I'll never be able to repay CA for making GW realize that The Old World was a cash cow, left to die in a field.

If you are going against skimmers and I am sure you will be of some sort, you might want the airboss on your Dakka jets.

You have 3 HQ's so I am guessing you are going unbound. I don't know about the SAG. I have never had luck with it. I am also not sure you really want to attach it to the Mek guns. Get a small squad of grots to put him in or give him a KFF instead to cover the Guns.

Dont run unbound or the ork warband formation. Objective secured is a great boon to us greenies.

If you're footslogging boyz though, you are probably going to want a warboss if you intend on using them aggressively for pushing midfield or into your opponents turf. Having a warboss basically ensures a turn two assault, and it's pretty good for the Dakkajets too for annihilating some skimmers and jetbikes(which against tau and eldar, bank on)

And your list is about 30 points over if my math is right.

Unless you're super keen on keeping the SAG mek, consider running a list like this:

+HQ+

2x naked painboy: 100pts

+TROOPS+

Boyz x29 w/sluggas + Nob w/pole, klaw: 220

Boyz x29 w/sluggas + Nob w/pole, klaw: 220

+FAST+

Dakkajet w/ third shoota and Flyboss: 145

Dakkajet w/ third shoota and Flyboss: 145

+HEAVY+

KMK w/ runt: 33

KMK w/ runt: 33

KMK w/ runt: 33

Lobba w/ runt: 21

Lobba w/ runt: 21

Leaves 30 points wiggle room.

I squeezed in two dakkajets, but in my opinion a boss is nearly as important for the Waaagh and the thinking cap is great. But to get three HQs you need to pay the grot tax of 70 points (however they make a delightful 5+ cover for your boyz). You'll definitely want a painboy in each of the big mobs though, or else the one that doesnt have the FNP will be focused down to nothing first (and its remarkably easy for them to do, especially with the amount of ignore cover / volume of shots both enemy races have access to.) So dont sacrifice either of those slots for a warboss.

Heavy armour may be worthwhile, but if the tau player brings a riptide it's a lot of wasted points considering it'll pie plate you and bypass your armour and FNP and likely also your cover. Against eldar, the 4+ will excel, they have a lot of high S, no/high AP shooting, and your armour and FNP will laugh it off. But its very expensive and in my opinion a total waste against tau. You really just want a lot of bodies on the field to beat tau. Have more orks than they have shots and you'll ultimately come out on top, because their main source of high volume is their fire warriors and maybe stealth suits if he brings them, and they will likely be the first units to crumple under the mass of your waaagh. Just make sure you don't let either race bait you into running around because they are both capable of kiting you all game. Just play the objectives and you'll be fine (and playing to objectives, especially the eternal war ones, is something we do decently because of our troops raw staying power).

The lobbas will drink the tears of dead xenos infantry. The KMBs will be your best bet against suits (especially the riptide, dont even bothing shooting stealth suits because their cover save is so good, just krump em the old fashioned way) as well as dirty jetbikes and eldar wraith type units.

Thanks for your feedbacks!

I really want to give the SAG a try this time, so I will keep him.
I also thought a grots bubble around the Big Mek was a good idea, but many advised to put him with KMK instead, which I like.

For sure, heavy armors are great vs Eldars.

Oh right, I need one more troop in my army. I didn't notice it -.-' Well spotted guys But why 70pts for gretchins ? With 35pts I have 3 troops with the 2 Boyz mobs.

How do you have 5 Heavies and still clam Battle forged?

Or did you mean something like this.

3X KMK: 3xRunt

2x Lobbas: 2x Runt

that was a mistake on my part. When I originally wrote that list I had a warboss in there instead of the second dakkajet as well as two units of grots, so I had written it with double force org in mind. I went back and took out the boss and put the second flyboy back in to try to stay true to the spirit of the original list and forgot to bunch the big guns back into groups. The best bet would probably to have two lobbas in a group, two KMK in a group, and the third, lone KMK for opportunity fire.

And no, you dont need one more troop. Just use the regular rulebook battle-forged. It is superior in every single way to the unique ork force org which is situational at best, and literally impossible to benefit from at worst. S3 hammer of wrath to the front row of boyz in a mob and only IF you charge more than 10 inches is insanely bad. If it was hammer of wrath all the time that could definitely have its uses but it isn't so it doesn't. Battle forged will get you ObSec on all your troops, and ork troops with bosspoles tend not to budge thanks to Mob Rule. If you were to take any piece of advice I have offered in this whole thread, it would be to make sure your list has ObSec and not that ridiculously useless Ork Warband ruleset.

Yeah for sure the hammer of wrath rule is not the most important thing in the army I plan to field.
My main idea is to have lot of Boyz to soak up as much hits as possible, also thanks to the Painboy, while the SAG, the KMK and the Dakkajets devastate everything
