Hi!

Last nights game proved again the point, that in 40K, anything can happen in the bottom of fifth turn...

My friend wanted a rematch with his new Space Wolves against Orks. First i was going to play Eldar or Dark Eldar, but went with his request, cos he felt bummed about his list in the last game, which was done really fast and lacked some key elements...

Anywayz, he got the first turn and started pummeling my Killa Kans and Trukks and of course First blood was his. We played Big Guns Never Tire (a nice change after playing LOADS of Maelstrom games) and little by little we got to the point (in the beginning in the fifth), that he had 2 x 3p Objectives and one Heavy point and FB = 8p and i was holding one objective and the Gretchins, who were supposed to get the other won, ran of the board...BUT...then he failed his 5 inch charge through difficult terrain with his Warlord and Terminators and my Warboss with 5 x Nobz (Power Klaws) + Painboy were just inches away. My Killa Kannon HIT and killed enough Grey Hunters, to get him off his other objective (Hello? Is there a chance in this?). Then my Warlord dusted his and my Deff Dredd had ran to another objective, while Battle Wagon was sitting on second. After i consolidated six inches to get the Line Breaker, game ended and i won 8-5!

I was mentally given up in the bottom of the 4th and thinking about an Eldar list to spank his puppies with, and i was awestruck by this sudden victory. This was again a proper lesson for me, NOT TO GIVE UP

I can't tell if that's a case of being brutally kunnin', or kunnin'ly brutal to snatch victory like that.

I'll go with brutally kunnin' - Mork would be proud of you, good job!

Always play the mission. Never take your eye off the ball. In objective games, it doesn't matter if you have only 2 units left so long as you control the most objectives!

Well I managed to beat a revdar list (revenant, 2 jetseers, loads of jetbikes, wraithknight)
With a list that was mostly vehicles (knights and contemptors) and a single inquisitor.
At the end all I had was my warlord Knight (with 1HP), and 2 pink horrors that my inquis had miraculously summoned. He had his entire army minus 3 jetbikes.
I won, because I played the mission, and he had assumed he would table me after turn 2.

Hey, one of my favorite games was from awhile ago. The second and last time I ever lost against Orks. It was brutal. Kill points, I used a gakky list I knew wouldn't win. (I was running 2 C'Tan shards...) He had first blood, and was wiping the floor with my forces. It came down to one Annihilation Barge and my Overlord on foot. He had his warboss, big mek, a nob, some lootas on the back field, and some gretchin hiding towards his board edge. I was losing a good 8-2. My overlord had died horribly to some loota shots, then reanimated. He then proceeded to run towards his board edge, got shot and killed a second time, and reanimated. He then got shot to death by Gretchin, and proceeded to reanimate again. Then he charged into his Gretchin, hoping to get one last kill point, but the Gretchin passed their leadership after I slaughtered a few of them. So he was stuck in combat, but had linebreaker. Then, my annihilation barge shot up his Warboss squad, killing the remaining nob, and killed his big mek. He had linebreaker, but his warboss failed his leadership and ran away, counting as being killed. I lost with the score being 8-7. If it wasn't for his Gretchin, those damn gretchin.....But I ended up pulling off some amazing stuff, and had an amazing time.

For a second I thought you meant you had two Transcendent C'Tan, and was all ready to be confused...

Never know when a random lucky roll or near fluke shot can change the course of things.

Sometimes the long shots pay off :-)

Between

With the Witch Hunter book, I had several incidences of a lone Inferno Pistol Seraphim being the lone survivor of my army, jumping around inferno pistolling the backs of vehicles and taking out enemy models for two or three turns until the opponent realised that they had nothing left to win the game with.

Played a team game against someone who is fun, but always kicks my ass. Hard.

Ends on turn 5. They still have 80% of their guys. My ally is wiped out.
I have a single Dire avenger. Hiding behind some rocks, gone to ground.
The DA is close enough to an objective. We tie it up.

Never give up! Never surrender!

That's the beauty of the game. And with Malestrom missions, it's even more so. Just finished a game w my IG vs World Eaters in which the deployment was all wrong and my first few turns were just utterly bad. But things suddenly flipped over at turn 4 and. IG ended up triumphant!

Playing a very small (500pts ish) game of Chaos vs Salamanders, only objective being to table the opponent (it was a learning experience for the other player). My Rhino got halfway across the (small) table before being immobilised. The Berserkers inside got out and ran into a squad of Tactical Marines and wiped them out, only to be charged by Vulkan He'stan. Meanwhile, his Terminators got into combat with my Terminator Lord with a Daemon Weapon.

Both HQs ate their way through their respective combats, taking minimal wounds. They got into combat with each other, coming down to one wound each before Vulkan delivered the killing blow. Just as my opponent claimed victory, I remembered the Rhino - and its havoc launcher. It fired, it hit, wounded, and Vulkan failed his 2+ armour save. In the end, the paralysed vehicle was the only thing left.

I recently played a maelstrom game against GK and IG where going into turn 4 I was up 13-1. In the course of two turns he came back and I only barely hung on 14-10 (he also got a point for each objective he held at the end of the game) with his terminators 1 inch from claiming one objective (consolidated 4 instead of 5) and his guard 1 inch away from the other (5 inch run instead of 6). If he'd had both those objectives he would have controlled all 6 and gotten that massive point boost to win. It was incredible and made for an exciting finale.

For the guy who leaves it all on the field (because he doesn't pick up after the game).
Keep on rolling

Couple weeks ago i played a maelstrom game against my mates wolves/ultra marines (i was chaos)turn 1 my lord on bike with aobf slapped his warlord and a squad of bikes, got lucky with some objectives as well. By turn 3 i was well ahead but rolling bad with saves n constant 1s on deamon weapon. He was picking me off but i kept getting victory points and by turn 7 i was left with just a rhino, but far enough ahead on points, i relaxed and didnt account for him charging his grey hunters after moving 6.. and what do ya know he got the 12 inch charge he needed, so on the very last dice of the very last turn he rolled a 6 and stripped last hullpoint off my rhino leason lurned will not be letting my guard down again

I always play with the same mentality; it makes the victory so much sweeter when you are able to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat!

I had a game of The Relic at 1750 points against IG with Necrons. After wiping out the 500-ish points he sent forward for the objective, I move forward to claim it, complete with usual Necron distractions and gimmicks.

by the end of his turn 3, I have a single Necron Lord holding the relic in front of roughly 800 points worth of Guard guns.

For the next 3 turns without fail, I drag the relic 6", get Lascannoned into slag, reanimate & repeat.

I managed to scrape that win
