So:
Can a Knight-Lancer take legacies of glory if it's a Lords of War choice for a Space Marines detachment?

I dont see anything preventing it, though you'll have to take into consideration that the legacies of glory rule was not written with the Knight lancer in mind since it came out after said rule was introduced and is not part of the space marine army list.

Just a footnote: The use of the terminology of Army in that rule has very likely been changed to Detachment, not that it changes anything about the question in the slightest.

Another likely possibility is that it would be "faction," not detachment. The full Legacies rules quite specifically list out several codices by name that the legacies can be purchased for, and Codex: Imperial Knights is not one of them. It is a bit of a reach to say that something that is not actually a Space Marine model, and does not come from a Space Marine army list entry, can have a Space Marine Legacy of Glory.

True, it would involve more of a re-write but it would be the better if they did state something along the lines of 'any vehicle selected from this Codex' then just switch Army to Detachment.
