The imperial Knights Ion shield states that the save is against ALL hits facing shield (not pens or glances but all hits) .

marker lights state no saves allowed.

Both are codex rules.

The shield is an invul. Invuls save against penetrating hits and glancing hits.

Markerlights cause neither.

So you get your save, and it stops any glances or pens the marker light caused. A save only stops wounds, glances and pens.

You don't take saves against hits you take them against wounds, glances, or pens.

You cannot save against markerlight as it does no damage, only cover/flying to make the mark harder.

I get what you're saying. Due to the wording, it tells you to save against hits.

However the rulebook tells you what an invul save on a vehicle is for: It's for pens, glances, and other effects that strip hull points (like grav guns - this had to be added, because 6th edition only said pens and glances, meaning grav guns didn't allow them, technically).

The ion shield is worded the way it is because a penetrating HIT and a glancing HIT are hits. But you still don't save versus to-hit rolls. Just the ones that caused penetrating HITS and glancing HITS on you.

While it's been stated that you don't get them, I'd like to add that while the knight's rule states that it works against all, the Marker Lights state that it denies saves.
So if you took a save against it (assuming you could), would you then follow the Marker Light ignoring your saves?
Or, a similar one: if you took an armour save against an AP1 or AP2 weapon, would you be following the rules for AP values?

You should re-read the rules for invul saves.
