I know regular bikers are the preferred pick in 7th edition over Biker Nobs.

I spent a great deal of time converting my Biker Nobs and am woe to shelve them.

The list I want to use them in include 3 20 boyz mobs in Battle wagons with Boarding planks and a unit of Tank Bustas also in a Battlewagon.

My plan is to go all out with the Biker Nob unit, hopefully dangerous enough to draw fire away from the BW's.

War Boss, PK, Bike, Lucky Stick,
Big Mek, KFF, Bike
Pain Boy, Bike
4 Nob Bikers, 2 PK's

Built this way, the WB gets 4+ Cover or 5++, followed by a 5++ FNP - either of these fail, he uses the Stick. He can Tank but no where near the level of a MAWB.
The KFF BM needs to stay as he covers a 5++ also to the BattleWagons. But Im open to discussion on this.

What do you think? Is the Pain Boy essential? Biker Nobs just not good enough?

Not sure if it helps, but I'm trying out Warboss, Big Mek, and painboy in a kopta mob. I put a killsaw on the Bigmek and take rokkits on the koptas. You can add buzzsaws if you want, but I like more bodies than powerklaws. Unit gets hit and run from koptas.

You could also try using the forgeworld biker boss 'Zhadsnark da Rippa.'

He has a S10 power klaw which strikes at Initiative 4, makes bikes troops, and grants scout to his bike mob. He can also turbo boost 24", and perform a tank shock.

Costs 150 points. Not bad.

On the Forgeworld site there is a free download for the dred mob army list. He can be found at the end of the list, despite the fact that he is not part of the dred mob army.

That is my choice for a biker boss anyway..

Nobbikers technically arent bad, theyre just not preferred because they lost their invul so they arent really any tankier than a maxed out warbiker squad.

Warbikers pt for pt will have more wounds, but less powerklaws, no bigchoppas, and S4 on charge slugga/choppa rather than S5. Nobbikers still hit way harder, but warbikers are generally the "warboss delivery system" since there isnt much a warboss on bike wont clean up on his own.

If you want the unit to be killy, go ahead and keep using the nobbikers. Unless hit with S10 you still have multi-wounded models, and outside melee i RARELY had that issue anyway.

An ork with an idea tends to end with a bang.

Im glad to hear its not a total washout going the Biker Nob way.

I like the DeffKopta idea alot - thanks EricBasser.

For 30 points less I get 2 more wounds, 5 tl rokkits and the USR's SCOUT and Hit & Run added to my Warboss. I do lose 2 PK's though from the nobs so I added a killsaw on the big mek with those 30 points.
