I've tried searching around for current edition information, but is it possible equip more than one Ranged weapon on a SM Seargent.

You can trade out the Boltgun for a chainsword, then trade the Bolt Pistol or melee weapon for one of the following... (I've chosen "or" over the "and")

I guess my confusion comes from the last part of that sentence. Is it limited to only once, no matter what, or could I trade the bolt pistol for a grav pistol and the melee weapon for a grav pistol?

Thanks

Yes, you can do chained swaps like that - that's how Space Marine Bikes are able to legally take special weapons (they swap their bolt pistol for a chainsword, then swap the chainsword for a special weapon). It enables you to dual wield pistols if you want to. It also allows you to take multiple melee weapons.

Some might argue that the wording in the wargear list and unit entry is restricting you to only ever making one swap (e.g., so that you couldn't dual wield plasma pistols). I don't buy that interpretation - the same wording is used for units like Vanguard Veterans or Captains, units who are clearly meant to have great flexibility in equipment choice.

Agree with the first poster, multiple swaps is legit. As long as you don't end up with more weapons than you started with you're likely doing it right.
