Subject: Crimson Fists (or other IF Successors) using the Sentinels of Terra Chapter Tactics?

I was reading the Sentinels of Terra Supplement. I like its Chapter Tactic, the Close Ranged Bolter Drill. I also appreciate the fluff that went with it, where it was really Lysander's thing, which happened to cause strong objections from his peers. With that in mind, how palatable is it for Crimson Fists to use the Close Ranged Bolter Drill? Or any IF Successor, for that matter?
To put into perspective, imagine if someone painted up a Crimson Fists army, but suddenly pointed out he's using the Sentinels of Terra Chapter Tactic just because he got a copy of the Supplement and he thinks it's better. While you may be a good sportsman and just let him get away with it, would you still think he was kind of lame for doing so?
(For the record, that lamer is actually me. I'm considering an all Scout Close Ranged Bolter Drill Kill Team because I think it can be really good, but I'm not sure I like the Imperial Fists scheme on Scout models.)

I wouldn't care. Just be sure to tell your opponent what rules you're using.

I think the Sentinels chapter tactics are demonstrably worse than the regular Crimson Fist tactics, which definitely makes it an easier decision for an opponent. But really, as long as you are consistent in which tactic you are using for your army, I wouldn't care either way!

Thanks for the feedback, it's exactly the kinda of gut response I was looking for. Especially this detail:

If people think the Sentinels of Terra CT is worse, then all the better.

The fact that I am a Crimson Fists player that uses Sentinels of Terra tactics, I think that speaks for itself. I would allow Clan Raukaan tactics on Iron Hands successors too.

I have no issues with people using whatever Chapter Tactics they want, though I'd prefer they put some thought into a reason other than "Its betta".

I doubt people with have an issue with it. Crimson Fists use the original Imperial Fists chapter tactic anyway.
I feel that having re-rolls on ones at 24" is way better than sacrificing half the range. Unless you plan to have a ton of centurion war suits, I would find the original chapter tactic to be better.

It lets you twin link the blotters at close range, which is a 16% increase in hits over the normal but that is the extent of it isn't it?
Tank hunter is the best USR in the game right now, and Imperial Fist devastator squads with laser cannons are absolutely sick. They will annihilate most vehicles with a singe turn of fire. I don't think increasing hits at 12" or less by 16% is as good as the normal reroll of 1's at all ranges (also affecting heavy blotters and storm bolters) and the amazing tank hunter rule. Not by anything close.

Aren't the Sentinels of Terra the Imperial Fists? Crimson Fists already use Imperial Fists tactics in the SM codex so I reckon you could use Sentinels of Terra.

PhillyT, Sentinels of Terra only replaces Bolter Drill with Close Range Bolter Drill. You still get Tank Hunters with Sentinels of Terra.

Ah, okay. Thank you!
So really, you increase your accuracy by 16% at 12" or less but lose out of 16% of your accuracy at 12-24" for storm blotters and blotters or 12" - 36" for heavy blotters.
I think it is a wash.

Blotters?
Now that is an unique spelling if I ever saw one.
