It's explained in detail in the article at the link provided. The "crazy" bulging eye was done with Apoxie Sculpt. Full work in progress photos and process described in my hobby article.

Not bad, but in my experience apoxie sculpt at this level of detail kind of loses a bit of detail. This stuff is great for doing bases and such, but I find it doesn't hold really fine details as well as, say, Green Stuff. Kind of hard to see the sculpted details, so can't say more till it's painted. Looking good so far!

What is best in life? To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women. Grrr.
