Subject: When were titans made?

Troubled By Non-Compliant Worlds

Since the titans are an invaluable resource to chaos and the imperium alike, obtaining one is a huge advantage to practically any war that each one could face. Anyways knowing that titans can't be created and only salvage working ones, when were they made? Like in the Dark Age if technology or produced during the great crusade? I'm not quite sure but I'd like any insight at all.

Well the knights at least were made and sent out during the age of strife in about M23/25-M30 at least. The titans were apparently made during this time period as well.

I couldn't tell you when they started being produced, but they are still produced. It just takes forever.

Titans, like most of the Imperiums more advanced technology was made during the Dark Age of Technology. The Castigator Titan (AKA the father of all titans was made during the time period for siege operations).
Titans can still be produced and manufactured but like some other posters mentioned the time it takes to build one from scratch is incredibly slow. Not all titan legions are come from mars which means that certain forgeworlds have the technology and resources to keep their legions going however ertain Forgeworld have lost the ability to produce specific titans which is why some are more rare then others.

Mars and Lucius both retain the ability to manufacture Titans,as does the alterverse Graia from Space Marine. There's also the Forge World in Titanicus that is the home / production facility for a Titan legion.

Dark age of technology most likely. Nearly all of the tech that the Imperium uses is from that era. Even the Great Crusade was more of a rediscovering than a renaissance
In the novel Dark Adeptus, there is an STC Castigator class titan on the planet.
Also titans CAN be produced, it just takes a very very very VERY long time..... and then some.

Pretty sure even the biggest can be built but its a very slow process. Even replacing a warhound is slow and that's the smallest class. Bigger ones are more akin to building a battleship than a land unit, and only the finest materials are used in construction.

Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all. |
