Is it worth it? I'm looking for a good way to start off my firehawks successors and this seems like the biggest bang for my buck ya know? Or am I better off writing a list and buying that? Mind you I don't have any models (got lost when I moved :( it sucks) and this comes with a decent amount of options. I did just buy that lord executioner model to be my Elam courbray model, and I was thinking of getting a box of vv to make my jump master. Any thoughts?

It gives a nice solid core, everything in there will be useful, and you can kitbash things like the Command Squad into Sternguard and the Cap into a Librarian or you prefer. It offers a good saving, I say go for it.

Couldn't you always just build the veterans from the command squad to be compliant with the Sternguard rules and the Command Squad rules and then just use them as either one whenever it suits you?

You could indeed, but to get the best of either, I think you're better off picking you be. Sternguard excel with Bolters and Combis, while a Command Squad wants CC or Special weapons.

Magnets can, of course, solve this easily.

The strike force is a great box, and a solid core for an army. I’d recommend it for anyone starting marines who can afford it as a point of entry.

Assuming you use what’s in it. If you are looking to play a White Scars bike list, it might not be for you. But even if you don’t like one or two things in the box, you still save money.

I wish I had bought it instead of how I did things. I would have saved a fair amount of money.

SM Strike Force and SM Strike Force Ultra are both great bundles, with actually decent prices for models from a US discounter. 30% bundle discount and 25% discounter discount. It worked out to $24 per 10 man tac squad in the strike force, and $50 per land raider in the SF Ultra.

... I bought 3 of each ; p Planning to sell on half the termies, 3 dreads and so on. Reselling the SM SF Ultra ltd ed Termi captains alone was quite lucrative! Made for a very affordable base for an SM army.
