Wanted to make a list that was infantry heavy and very mobile for scoring objectives. Keep one troop of kroot at the back with some firewarriors and an ethereal to protect against deepstrike. One troop to be brought in with infiltrate. Crisis suits & broadsides to cause trouble, and then the Riptide to soak up Dakka.

Any thoughts?

In principle it's a sound plan. A few things to look out for.

1) ethereals are easy to kill and worth extra victory points(even more if they are your warlord).

2) tau heavy support has some of the best options in the game. So you are a little lacking in raw firepower. Sniper drone teams are super good when combined with ethereals, 3 x shots when in rapid fire range and bs5 marker lights are nothing to turn your nose up at.

Other than that you should do very well at scoring objectives.

why not take a fireblade... he's pretty brutal

Fireblades are better for you lines as they give their buff regardless of rapid fire range. But if you have devil fish you're going to want to be in rapid fire range anyway to get the most out of your transport. Combine that with rapid fire fire warriors, hopefully more than one squad, that a ton of s5 shots.

That being said you are severely lacking in the marker light department.

Fireblade only gives extra shot to his unit though, ethereal will give it to any kroot that are also on the back line. I would plan to keep one of the 20+1 kroot squads and an ethereal at the back to deal with deepstrikes along with the broadsides with EWO. Then Have the firewarriors out and about on the Devilfish getting objectives with one of the units also having the other ethereal to off load dakka on enemy held objectives.

Maybe I could loose 1 squad of firewarriors and gain another 2x broadside team and add markerlights drones to the crisis suit team?

Some thing like this...

Personally, I wouldn't bother with the extra broadsides. I'd drop them, and one unit of pathfinders and the marker drones and the minimum of other stuff to supplement your broadsides with two skyrays. Its 230pts of gold for this list - it gives you anti air, anti tank, alpha capabilities that can synergise with the iontide well. It gives you two more av13 skimmers for your opponent to deal with (everything is scoring now) and gives you durable bs4 markerlights.

To be honest, getting rid of three tanks is not hard at all. Getting rid of five is much tougher. And you can always tank shock some gribbly troops off an objective to score on the last round if necessary (its so key that everything is scoring now - really important to think about what will still be there turn 5/6/7). In my opinion, I would fancy my chances against this list much less if you had a couple of skyrays to get rid of on top of those devilfish

Give at least one of the broadsides a Heavy Railrifle,

Also I'd swap the roles so the firewarriors are at the back and the kroot are moving up, its what they're designed to do.

And I don't think they all need devilfishes.
