So, I'm thinking of making an all/mostly gretchin ork supplement, is anyone interested in helping? I can't write it all otu at the moment, but i think that i could work, because the gun they have is essential a lasgun, and they shoot like guards, but i would also end up needed to add a couple of new units, i was thinking some sort of elite grot unit and what not.

In short, with this basic idea, anyone seem interested, or have any suggestions?

First lets list the current grot models:
Besides grots, oiler grots, assistent grots there are
-grot tanks
-grot mega tanks
-grot bombs
-grot bomb launchas (forgeworld)
-grot guns/support

and a model of a grot jump trooper (gw)

Then there are:
grot snipers (mantic/deadzone)
grot flyers (armorcast)
grot freebooters (reaper)

I think it would be nice to make some gretchin wolf and squig, spider riders and some feral goblins.

So, using the basic models bensin listed a rough skeleton of the unit options would look as follows and listing the ork "equivalent" next to one if there is one

HQ

Great Grot (warboss)
Grot Mech (big mech)

TROOP

Grot Squad (Boyz)
Jet Grots
Killa Kan? - Not sure if I want to run this under elite or troop at this point.

ELITE

Mad Grot - Grot High on shrooms like the Night Goblins from Fantasy
'eavy Grot
Psycher Grots (Name pending, like Wyrdvane Psykers)

FAST ATTACK

Squig Riders
Deffkopta (with grott pilots)
Bombas and fighers (filled with grots)?

HEAVY SUPPORT

grot tanks
grot mega Tanks
Grot guns
Grot Snipers
Grot bombs

This is just a loose Idea at the moment no stat lines beyond the basic grot stat line. Anyone have any input on the current list before I go into the rules fro each unit?

I've always been disappointed that GW never did anything with Grots in 40k. Especially with them trying to make 40k an essential Fantasy in Space. Though at the same time, I commend them for not coping out and just making Orcs & Goblins: Space Edition.

But I won't lie and say I haven't dreamed of having Grot Snipers of some kind. I wish Grots had a bigger role besides mostly 'decorative models.' Because...really, by now I really only use grots to fill up empty troop slots or just as the rare tie up unit.

The problem with grot squads is that they're overpriced(!) for what they currently do. And in all fairness, what they do is simply remain on the field. They provide no ranged or melle threat and auto-evaporise the moment someone looks at their general direction. I mean, compare them to conscripts. It's like comparing a guardsman to a space marine. But they cost the same. Yep, i had luck with min squads of grots on the frontlines just cause they're so worthless that people ignore them. Like in the game where a grot squad blocked Imperial Knight for 2 turns.

Actually, i think the best way to introduce active use of grots is to give them for free or for as cheap as possible if some requirements are met like: "Bring 3 kanz and get a min grot squad for free!". Or probably introduce the same mechanics as with the Helcult but with grots and kanz. That's also quite fluffy as grots really-really want to get in a kan.

It's gona inspire the use of otherwise hugely nerfed kanz that were not that great in the first place to begin with. Just like the csm dataslate with helbrutes.
