I don't know, from the initial reports it might be just a crazy guy and not someone with an agenda.

Anyway, I'm glad it doesn't seem to be a racially motivated attack at least. It'd do us no favours having some blown-up headline announcing the arrival of terrorist-style beheadings in the UK, but unfortunately such a headline would make a lot of money.

Judging from this morning's newspapers, the man involved seems to have been mentally deranged.

It's not related to Islamic Extremism in any way from what has been said. The chap responsible just sounds mentally ill.

Another man has been shot dead in London following a hostage standoff with Police.

I think the actual likelihood of an IS style beheading happening in the UK is worrying, it's definitely not in the realms of impossible. A girl from Pollokshields (which is just down the road from me), an area with a large Asain/Muslim community, has been found to have went out and joined IS. Which is pretty depressing.

How do you know that? The article appears a bit skimpy on details.

They're obviously some kind of criminal scumbags. It was probably over drugs or other money related issue.

The point of Extremist beheading seems to be to provide them a platform to address the world.

Bit too early to say much at this stage. I'm normally hesitant in assuming particular motives in terms of killing until all the fact have been established. Knee Jerk reactions are how riots start.

The man in London was probably suffering from horrendous mental health issues while the people in IS are just dogmatic morons.

Sanity and Morality are not mutually exclusive. People can commit barbaric and inhuman acts whilst being of sound mind and being perfectly aware of what they are doing.

Seems more like a mental health issue. Seems unlikely that the 82 year old woman was involved in some sort of turf war, which is when this kind of violence normally happens with money and drugs, and seems unlikely it was a robbery or some such given that he also beheaded the cat and attacked the flower bed.

The US and China don't tend to tell the world when they execute people either. Not attacking or defending capital punishment, but lets not pretend only Muslim countries do it, or that there is an equivalence with terrorist acts.

feth... Some people are going to see "Muslim" and ignore all the other facts, like attacking flowers. I would not be suppriesd if the Muslim bit had something to do with the choice of method, but I am sure that had he not been a Muslim convert that, if it is mental health issues, then he would have done something else. It would have been the Flying Spaghetti Monster telling him to strangle people with Linguine or Yoda telling him she was a sith lord (amusing it is that kind of mental health problem).
