Hello Guys,

I'm new to X-wing but picking it up fast and loving it allot.

What are your thoughts on the below list.

Carnor Jax +Swarm Tactics
Howlrunner + Swarm Tactics
Alpha Squadron
Alpha Squadron
Backstabber

Basic plan is Jax, Howrunner and Alphas stay close giving the Alpha pilot 8, and using the re-rolls of howl and combining it with Jax rule.

Then Backstabber on the flank.

Would love to hear your thoughts?

Thanks in advanced.

I feel like Jax's potential is wasted having him sit in formation buffing TIEs. Jax wants to get up in people's grills to deny them their focus. PTL and a hull upgrade is really all he needs. Predator, Outmaneuver or something to make his offense consistent so you can use actions for positioning/defense is good too.

Jax and Backstabber zipping around while Howl and some friends go up the middle would be pretty sweet.

Jax w/ Push the Limit (29)
Howlrunner w/ Determination (19)
Dark Curse (16)
3x Academy Pilot

I prefer Dark Curse for his durability, but he's an easy swap with ol' Stabby.

Thanks for your advice:-).

I actually think I might try out a four bomber list for fun. A lot of players at my local club don't think they are very good, but i found a list what I like the look of and think it would work.
Very all or nothing, what do you think?

Captain Jonus
Gamma Squadron. Cluster Missile, Concussion missile
Gamma Squadron. Cluster Missile, Concussion missile
Gamma Squadron. Cluster Missile, Concussion missile

I've run multiple bombers before, though not as the only ship in my list. They're definitely under-estimated and capable of surprises, but there are some things you can do to help them out.

The main issues you face are
- You drastically lose effectiveness once your ordnance is gone
- Bombers seriously lack manoeuvrability
- Ordnance is not really as effective as it should be (you need to spend your target lock, meaning you can't use it on the attack dice, or focus on the same turn).

Some possible options include:
- If you've got a TIE Advanced pack you'll also have the Squad Leader elite pilot talent. Because Jonus isn't firing ordnance himself, his action is actually under-used, as his EPT slot. Squad leader solves both of these - you can lock-on with a Gamma bomber, then focus with Jonus's Squad Leader - or vice versa, depending on when it's most advantageous to get your target lock.
- Bombers can protect themselves from being tailed very well. Proton bombs are probably too pricey to work, but seismic charges can really threaten enemy fighters on your six, especially when you're potentially dropping several. Sometimes the threat posed by them is as effective as the damage itself, if it forces your opponents to break away from you. Note that higher initiative bombers have a better chance to hit something, as they know that they will catch any ships in the blast radius because they've already moved.
- Consider dropping one bomber for a couple of TIEs for additional mopping-up ability.

Bombers with ordnance can be tricky to get working consistently. Jonus helps a ton here. Something else to consider is giving them seismics to make them threatening after dumping their missiles or when the furball gets out of hand.

Hey guys,

So i had my first game with the below list last night. I lost but enjoyed the game. It was a hard one for me to fight as he had two kitted out phantoms, and Dark Curse and Night Beast.

I got him down two one phantom, he stealth and the ability when he attacks he can go back in to stealth. Unfortunately once my misses has gone i couldn't get rid of him.

I almost killed one phantom with my bombs which was funny :-).

The list i used was..

Captain Jonus
Scimtar Squadron, cluster missiles, concussion missiles, seismic charges x3

I think this list could do well againts b-wings ect..

Hello Guys,

I thought I would give update on how this list was going.

So after reading your comments the list I have been running is Captain Jonus with Scimtar Squadron, cluster missiles, concussion missiles, seismic charges x3.

Since my first defeat with the list, against the double phantoms I have played the phantoms again and won. This was a close game and could of gone ether way, but I have been having some success and currently on a win streak 4.

I have been finding the bombs are working really well for me, and this isent because of the damage they can do but because of the threat they pose. As I believe Hedghog did mention in a previous post. I acutely find sometimes its good to not use the bombs when you would normal use them, and catch your opponent off guard, as they try to move around the bombs.

Although I did managed to blow up 2 interceptors in one bomb which was funny.

I

Any way thanks for you advice guys.

Happy gaming.
