Subject: Ork Wreckin' Ball -- Gun or "Other" weapon?

Ork Boy Hangin' off a Trukk

There is no specification in the codex whether the Wreckin' Ball is counted as a gun. I ASSUME that it's an assault D3 shooting weapon, but does that mean that the other weapons also have to shoot at the same target? I think it might be wishful thinking, but it would be really nice!

I think you're correct.
It used to be just a vehicle upgrade, now it's listed under weapons, with a ranged weapon profile.

Another possibility is that it causes D3 HITS, not attempts. At BS2, D3 shots is... meaningless.

It is indeed a weapon that gets d3 shots. on average you will not hit. But its orky and you could get 3 hits! not likely.
it is only 10 pts for a str 9 weapon. [edit to correct str value, thanks!]
oddly it also means its capable of hitting flyers if your within 3" of them of course.

Harrumph. Oh well. It's actually S9, but still enough to hurt anything on the board. I hadn't thought of the flyers, though! That's a really good point! I'm going to bring down a storm raven with balls swinging on a chain! Now THAT'S Orky!

Why not? Mogrock attached em TO planes lol, that would be funny to do.
Anyway, it has a shooting profile making it a shooting attack. However, I have a query of my own. Being an upgrade, and not an actual weapon, can it be taken out on a "weapon destroyed" result?

Insect-Infested Nurgle Chaos Lord

Could go either way on that.
I would say yes, personally, but that;s just an opinion, not a rule.

The Viletide: Daemons of Nurgle/Deathguard: 7400 pts
Disclples of the Dragon - Ad Mech - about 2000 pts
GSC - about 2000 Pts
Rhulic Mercs - um...many...
Circle Oroboros - 300 Pts or so
Menoth - 300+ pts

Powerful Phoenix Lord

I would say yes, because the Weapon Destroyed rules specifically call out vehicle upgrades that are weapons.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.
