General thoughts:

I plan on both the GM and Libby taking Sanctic powers. I'm almost assured to get the combo of Gate of Infinity + Vortex of Doom, which could be guided by the Interceptors Teleport Homer(Pretty sure this works as the Teleport Homer states it works on models in Terminator armor/Personal Teleporter arriving by Deep Strike)

So I could get some pin point StrD where I want it, and some close range firepower too.

The Interceptors are there mostly to fill in points(I don't have enough terminators for another unit) and allow for the above synergy, plus they're a template weapon on a stick.

The Techmarine is there for Bolster Defenses. He goes in the Storm Raven after that just for repair.

Curiass of Sacrifice seems like its only good when on a Grand Master because they have 3 wounds(stupid 2 wound libbys ) and the Libby wants the Liber Daemonica.

Do you play maelstrom missions? Then something has to stand back and claim your home objectives.
NDK's are better used in pairs. A single one goes down too easily.

Got three good games in. One minor loss and one major loss(because my dice hated me) and got a massacre in a third.

Game one:

Game one was a modified Maelstrom mission. 2 objectives(1 and 2) in the center, plus kill points.

Opponent was playing Khan, 4 bike squads(2 melta and 2 grav), and an Adamantium Lance Knight formation(2 errants and 1 paladin)

My Psychic powers were GoI and Sanctuary on the GM. The Libby got GoI, Purge Soul, Cleansing Flame, and Sanctuary.

Held both Terminator squads and characters in reserve, Techie went in the Raven.

Deployed the Interceptors behind a large building on the left flank and the Dreadknight on the right behind a smaller building(which I used Bolster on)

He went first. Knights advanced and ran because they had no targets. Bikes moved forward. One of his grav squads just got LoS and range on my DK, but I only took 2 wounds. One Bike Squad outflanked.

Khan and the other bikes Turbo boosted forward to get into my deployment zone to get that point for that turn(we'd both rolled scoring unit in enemy zone)

My turn, both units of Terminators arrive. He forgot about my reinforcements arriving turn 1.

My GM and his terminators deep strike near Khan, but scatter back towards my board edge. GM puts up Sanctuary and the squad put up HH to dissuade charges. They shoot up Khan's squad a bit and run to spread out.The Librarian deep strikes behind a large building in his backfield but scatters onto the other side into LoS of the knights. the Libby failed to cast gate to try again to hide behind the building, but managed to pop a grav gun biker with Purge Soul. His squad run and manages to shield half of their number from the Knights.

Dreadknight moves forward and annihilates the Grav bike squad that tried to kill him. He also puts up Sanctuary.

On his turn, his outflankers arrive and come in on my left flank to support Khan. Those two bike squads manage to kill 2 terminators between them(Sanctuary is awesome!). One of the Errants is in range with his melta cannon. He only kills one terminator due to scatter and 4+ invuln.

His other bike squad moves to try and shoot the Dreadknight but they are just short on their Meltaguns.

The other two knights shoot at my Librarians squad and kill 4 terminators.

I take morale for my two terminator squads. Librarian passes, but my Grandmaster fails his Ld10 test I'm staring his Warlord and 2 bike squads in the face to annihilate them on my turn and I fail my check, and the flee move takes my off the board.

He gets Slay the Warlord and Crippling Strike(kill most expensive enemy unit) together for a bonus point. All because of a bad scatter plus one failed Ld test.

I continue on and do quite well. I actually end up with more Maelstrom points because my Librarian was able to use GoI to hop around the board and snatch objectives. This kited his Knights around quite well and my Stormraven also killed one of his knights.

Overall it was a minor loss for me. He beat me by 3 points due to Slay the Warlord, Linebreaker, and Crippling Strike.

Game 2:

Opponent was playing Blood Angels.

My powers were, GM: GoI and VoD. Librarian: GoI, VoD, Sanctuary, and Cleansing Flame.

Lvl1 Librarian with Biomancy, 2 5 man assault squads with melta and 2 melta pistols in pods, 3 Dreadnoughts with MM and Autocannon in pods, 10 Deathcompany with bolters in a Pod, 3 Furioso dreads with Blood fist and Frag cannon in pods, and 2 DC Dreads with Bloodfists in Pods.

Mission is central relic that randomly scatters at the beginning of any player turn in which it is not held. 2 base objectives in deployment zones. Deployment is lengthwise down the board.

The relic is on top of a large flat topped Mesa in the middle of the board(6" tall with flat sides)

He wins the roll and gives me first turn. I deploy everything.

My turn one, I shunt my Interceptors and Dreadknight onto the Mesa. Librarian casts GoI and Deep Strikes his squad onto the mesa and picks up the Relic, puts up Sanctuary. Dreadknight puts up Sanctuary.

Grandmaster casts GoI, but perils and he manages to Deny the power. I roll a 1 and fail the Ld test. Unit takes no damage, but I've lost my GM again to my stupid dice. Fortunately, I'd made my Librarian the Warlord in this mission.

I run my terminators and Strike Squad to try and block as much of the mesa as possible from him deploying his squads there from the incoming pods.

His turn: 3 Furioso with Frag cannons, 1 of the dreadnoughts, 1 of the Deathcompany Dreds, and the Assault squad without his Librarian come down. One of the Furioso dreds scatters too far to make it onto the mesa, but one of the DC, 2 Furioso, and the assault squad all manage to just deploy on the mesa. His regular dreadnought plops himself on a hill nearby.

In shooting, he wipes out the Interceptors and kills 4 terminators. His MM dred puts on wound on the Dreadknight.

My turn, Stormraven comes in.

Dreadknight hops off the Mesa and kills the MM dreadnought with shooting/assault and puts up Sanctuary. The Terminators who were guarding my incompetent GM slog forward and explode one Furioso dread who had his rear facing them.

Stormraven uses its MM and Assault cannon to immobilize and rip the DCCW off the other Furioso on the Mesa.

My Librarian uses VoD to kill the other DC dreadnought and leaves a Vortex hanging just off the cliff. In shooting, his squad kills 4 members of the assault squad but fails their assault and the sergeant passes his Ld test.

The game is an evenly matched slug fest. His last DC dreadnought manages to kill my GM's terminators down to one dude due to my piss poor rolling. He eventually kills off all my Librarians terminators with shooting and his Pods finish off my Librarian.

His Librarian and his assault squad get eaten by the scattering vortex from my first casting of VoD.

My Dreadknight and his last Furioso mutually annihilate each other after 3 rounds of melee whiffing on both sides.

His lone assault marine Sergeant survives to capture the relic and his stupid scoring Pods hold both his and my objectives. So he wins a major victory.

Again I was screwed by my dice. If my GM had survived and/or all my terminators managed to get into the center I could have easily killed him off.

Game 3:

Deployment is Vanguard strike. Mission is as follows. There is an objective in the middle of the table(got the same table as game 2) that at the beginning of each player turn scatters a new relic(with mysterious objectives) 2D6 from itself.

Opponent has Sisters of Battle. 2 5 man sister squads, 1 10 man, a 5 man command squad with Cannoness in Rhino, 3 Exorcists, and an Adamantium Lance with 2 Errants and 1 Paladin(Seneschal)

He wins the roll to go/deploy first.

Powers are, GM: Sanctuary and HH. Librarian: GoI, VoD, HH, and Purge Soul.

He deploys his knights centrally, with his Exorcists/rhino on his left flank. Center among the knights are the sisters on foot.

I deploy my Dreadknight behind a large stone piller(which I Bolster). My GM's squad is in the same area. Interceptors are behind the mesa out of LoS of the Knights. Librarian and his terminators are in reserve.

He moves his knights forward with one going to his right(my left) around the Mesa and the other two move towards the mesa but lack the movement to get on top. Exorcists move to get a bead on my Knight/terminators. 2 can see the DK but the 3+ cover protects me. The last one kills one terminator.

My turn, the Librarian doesn't arrive. Dreadknight shunts forward to hide behind the Mesa, Interceptors move to hide there as well.

Terminators advance, GM and DK put up Sanctuary.

His turn 2: Knights advance around the Mesa to just draw a bead on my DK. Sisters move forward.

Knights unload on my DK. One of the melta cannons misses completely, both battle cannon shots hit but bounce on 2+ armor, last melta cannon does a single wound which I fail to save. They shoot stubbers at my terminators but do nothing.

Exorcists can only see 2 terminators and all 3 manage to kill them together.

My turn 2, Stormraven arrives. Terminators don't. Stormraven and Dreadknight move to tag team the Knight on my left flank who is out of formation. Terminators advance and unload on his Paladin Seneschal. They get some good hits in. He loses 4 hull points even with his saves.

Interceptors shunt to his far right flank and shoot up one of his sister squads.

I put up Sanctuary on my Terminators and DK. HH also gets put up on the Terminators. He denies the casting by the squad but the GM puts it up.

Dreadknight and Stormraven's shooting bounces completely off the knight on the left, and he's only 4" away from the knight.

His turn: Exorcists turn to shoot at my Interceptors. Sisters advance onto the edge of the mesa and grab one of the many relics which are now littering the ground.

His Paladin advances to within 8" of my terminators(with a patch of rough terrain between us) and shoots his battle cannon. One shot hits but causes no casualties, the other scatters onto himself but does no damage. He doesn't attempt to have his Errant fire its melta cannon as his Seneschal is blocking the way and is very close to the terminators.

His other Errant is a little bolder and shoots the Dreadknight, he causes a wound at nearly point blank range.

Seneschal charges the GM's terminators. He fails the charge despite the reroll from being near another Knight. Overwatch does nothing.

The errant on the left needs only a 4 to succeed his charge, and rolls a 3. Overwatch does nothing again.

Exorcists and sisters kill 4 interceptors but the justicar survives.

My turn: Stormraven flies forward to deal with the exorcists. Terminators finally arrive, and teleport in next to the justicar and behind the errant on the left flank.

Dreadknight moves to collect relics and shoot at the Paladin Knight in the flank.

GM's Terminators move, cast HH and Sanctuary and prepare to charge the Paladin Seneschal.

Interceptor justicar moves to charge a sister squad.

Librarian casts Vortex of Doom at the Knight nearby and does 3 hull points. Shooting does another 2 even with the shield in the rear. The Libby also Purge Soul's a sister who was carrying a relic, but Perils. He rolls a 6 and gets Ubercharged! They also run to spread out(that ability is awesome)

GM's squad and DK do no damage to the Seneschal with shooting.

GM and Terminators charge the Seneschal. He kills one terminator, but dies to halberd glances(Str7 with HH). He falls on the terminators but kills nobody.

Interceptor charges 3 sisters. Kills 2, they kill him back. But they fail morale for casualties and the last one runs off the board.

Stormraven Crew Stuns one Exorcist and explodes another.

His turn. Damaged Errant turns around to face his tormenters(fully aware he will have no shield against overwatch)

The other Errant moves to shoot and charge my GM's squad.

10 man sister squad moves to capture the center objective and picks up several relics.

Exorcist kills 2 of my Libby's terminators. The one that was stunned does nothing.

Errant shoots my Libby's squad and does 5 wounds with his melta cannon but I save 3 amazingly. He charges, but my Librarian takes him out before he swings. He falls onto the last member of his other 5 man squad but doesn't kill.

Last remaining Errant charges my GM and his buddies. Kills them down to 3 terminators and the GM. Str10 Hammer and Melta bomb take the knight out. But not before he stomps. He rolls one template, and rolls a 6! GM and 2 terminators go away. Last terminator with hammer and psycannon passes casualty test and consolidates towards the mesa, out of LoS of the exorcists.

My turn: Dreadknight kills the ten sisters on the mesa with shooting and assault. Remaining Terminator from GM's squad grabs a relic and hides. Stormraven kills one exorcist and stuns the last one. Librarian and squad grab a couple more relics after using GoI.

At this point my opponent concedes.

I win this last game 18-1

So basically, if my GM hadn't killed himself in my first two games I'd probably have won both of those.

As far as I know, Teleport Homers dont work with gate, they use the rules for Deep Strike, but they're not comming in from Deep Strike Reserves.

I'd also second the motion that you need another Dreadknight,

Also what the techmarine is bolstering, is there a unit you plan on sitting in terrain for cover?

Maybe instead of the Techmarine an ADL with Comm relay to reroll failed reserve rolls if you DS turn 1

Ouch, that's some bad luck with your rolls.

If you want another Dreadknight like posters are suggesting then perhaps consider removing the Techmarine and Interceptors to get the points? The Techmarine doesn't seem to be doing much for you and Teleport Homer doesn't work for Gate of Infinity.

He did end up not doing much, but I never ran into any AA. And I liked the Bolster.

I would like to get my second DK in, but it is a toss up.

The teleport homer only got used once, and never before my Storm Raven turned up.

Maybe I'll drop the Techmarine and the Interceptors for the DK and give the Raven a Locator Beacon.

Only models that are in reserves can deep strike at all(Deep Strike rules) Thus GoI has to place the unit in reserves OR the power doesn't work. And because GoI uses the rules for Deep Striking, it counts as arriving from reserves as well(or doesn't work). Thus they can use the Teleport homer(provided they are all in TDA or have teleporters) when they use GoI.

That's definitely an idea worth trying out.

Well we were utterly convinced, and correctly so, that Falchions in the old codex gave +2 attacks. We were even right RAW. Then GW FAQ'd that they didn't.

It could go either way, and honestly it would be kinda lame if this doesn't work. Its not OP or anything. Its one of the few tricks you can do with the codex.

At least this wouldn't be crippling if it doesn't work.

GoI is still ballbustingly good. Especially if you also got VoD.

Its even funnier when you deep strike in from reserves, toss out VoD, and then GoI away. "Hey guys, have fun with this! We'll be over there if you need us."

Out of curiosity, what do people think the best weapon for GK Librarians is?

Denying the Witch most of the time on 3+ is nice, but AP4 is kinda sucky. But easy access to HH means you'll often be Str8 in combat with the Stave.

The best spells to dispel are blessings... so the staff wont help much. But with hammer hand+staff he is STR8 with a force weapon, thats solid. (Yes the ward rule is also good, but as I said blessings are the biggest problem spells, so 6's)
