Here is a list of what I currently have. I have just started playing. Always wanted too, but when my daughter showed an interest, I finally coughed up the money and got us started.
Current list of what I have. There is a 1500 point unbound tourny next week, and I would like to participate. Most of my models were second hand, which is why my selection is so random.
I have chosen nurgle as my primary theme, and most of it is painted in Nurgle colors

26x Chaos Cultists from DV set(use as zombies usually)
13x Chaos Space Marines with Melta Champion has plasma pistol and power fist. One Icon bearer with pistol, rest with bolter.

Elites
6x chosen from DV
2x hellbrutes from DV
2x squads of 7 of plague marines each with plasma gun
1x squad of 7 khorne berserkers

2x Rhino with havoc launcher, bolter/flamer and dozer blade

Heavy Support
1x Land raider
1x Chaos Predator with heavy bolters on side and twin linked lascannon(I have the bit for other weapon on top)
1x Defiler with power scourge and reaper autocannon

I would appreciate any help in building what would be a decent list. I have experimented during casual play sundays, but I usually lost to better built armies and more experienced players.

next 2 model kits I am buying are first Terminators, then Heldrake. Won't have them before tourny though.

Chosen or bezerkers and lord in land raider

The plague marines in rhinos.

The prince gliding behind the raider to block line of sight, if he gets shot, jink for a 2+ cover. Get 3 mastery levels and two rolls on telepathy. Hope for shrouding or invisibility.

Predator.

Thats probably about 1500. You'll need to check out the hellbrute dataslate if you haven't already.

You want to do some converting, plasma pistols are terrible. And you really want two plasma guns on the plaguemarines.

Not keen on using cultists as zombies, but whatever.

If you have Typhus and a Helcult you can make the Cultist w/ the Helbrute Zombies, which is rather nice.

I think you've got a great start to your army.I mean you got troops , you got some anti tank and you got a great H. Hitter.

Is a perfectly fine 1500 point army. If you had one more defiler you could make a Mayhem Pack.

1 defiler= 5 helbrutes? You gotta give me instructions on how to convert these.

The murderpack is 3 separate hellbrute who deepstrike.

Its kinda crazy but on paper a great disruption force.


But I could totally make 3 hellbrutes out of a defiler. Give me enough greenstuff... ahaahaaaahahaaaaa

Mayhem Pack is the one with 3 Helbrutes that deep strike.

Need to see tutorial on making 3 helbrutes from 1 defiler.

I realized after some googling that he infact made a typo. However I am now looking for a 3rd Helbrute to nurglize and then start deep striking them and hopefully creating a bit more chaos on the enemy then they currently seem to be able too.

I think you really do have a great start for a Nurgle army. You could use some more melta, but honestly with the Daemon Prince and the other things you listed you've got a great start on a 1500 point list.

Thank you. First models I got were the DV, then after research, and a little bit of luck stumbling upon a great box of bits, that happened to be all complete, I managed to piece together what I have now. I am working on variety as far as weapons are concerned. More meltas and plasmas, etc. I have built 3 lists at 1496 ish points. Im gonna test them tomorrow against my daughter and see how it turns out. Thanks for all the help guys.

Just to say. I wouldn't go hellbrutes next. Pick something from fast attack (spawn, heldrake)

ok, so my FLGS does not allow any digital products during play at all. This included digital only releases. So I can not utilize the Dataslate for Hellbrutes on Sunday. I have worked up a list with Chaos only, although I am considering running allies with my daughters Tau since she will not be participating.

It equals out to 1497 according to battlescribe

Recommendations for changes based on what I have are appreciated.

Drop the Plasma pistols altogether (Chaos Lord, Champion, and CSM) which should net you 45 points, and one CSM. I would get a Rhino and a second Meltagun for the CSM squad.

I wouldn't trust battle scribe on the points. Add it up yourself to be sure. I would also drop The Lord and try and add a troop of plague marines.

I also really dislike the choice of melee focused chosen. I would drop them and run plague marines with plasma.

Well I was tabled twice by LoWs. But good times were had by all. Thanks for the assistance. I am gonna run a Tau Nurgle list on the next unbound so at least I have some armor pen.
