It's been interesting hashing out the details of when you can and cannot fleet in the wyches/raider thread.  It seems that people are pretty much convinced that fleet overrides generic rules and that you can fleet whenever you want in place of shooting.  So I now pose to you this:

If a unit makes a successful roll to see with an auspex before the game, can it make a fleet move instead of shooting?  Apparently, yes.

P1:  An auspex allows a unit to take shots at enemy infiltrators before the game.

P2:  Instead of shooting, a unit may make a fleet move.

C:  A unit may make a fleet move before the game instead of shooting at enemy infiltrators.

I would really like to know if this is possible, as it could be fantastic for my Kroot army if the enemy has any infiltrators.

If that is possible, then it makes auspex an awesome tool for fleet armies. Might even make kroot mercs competitive.

I dont have much more to add than that though.

P2 is incorrect, the unit may make a move in the shooting phase instead of shooting, not just instead of shooting. Also, I don't think there was agreement in the other thread that you could fleet out of the vehicle, just people saying "yes you can lalalala".

You know, following this stupid logic a Chaos sorcerer should be able to sacrifice a thrall to use a second psychic power instead of shooting, giving himself two fleet moves in the shooting phase, or using one power and still fleeting!

"The last known instance of common sense happened at a GT. A player tried to use the 'common sense' argument vs. Mauleed to justify his turbo-boosted bikes getting a saving throw vs. Psycannons. The player's resulting psychic death scream erased common sense from the minds of 40k players everywhere. " - Ozymandias

Yep, I see it now that I'm home, shooting phase only.  (shrugs)  There must be another trick to make my army win games- without learning to play better, of course.

Or you can play an army that has more variety and isn't hamstrung by it's lack of diversified units.... Capt K
