I frequently browse a message board that has implemented image thumbnail previews when hovering over thread titles. Akin to how we have text previews of the first and last post on Dakka. I very much enjoy the convenience this adds and also being someone with a slower connection who frequently suffers from broken links, it would be nice to know straight away if the pics are going to work.

Unfortunately i do not want to post a link to the message board i am citing because i have to admit it's an Adult website (nothing weird btw). The message board in question i believe uses the V-board Platform and i am not sure that it is only possible to do these thumbnail previews via V-Board. If you are happy to objectively assess the functionality of the image previews i could happily PM you a link.

I might suggest that a trial for only 'Painting and Modelling Showcase' would be a good place to start, it would be lovely if it could roll out to the rest of the 'Painting and Modelling' Sub-forum but that may be tricky.

Please do PM a link as it would be good to see other implementations (insert light humour here to ward off other comments later).

There is a tiny bit of code written already to allow such a feature to happen, and it was first requested about four years ago now I think. There are no showstopper reasons why it cant be implemented, but there are a lot of variables that can make it both complex and unreliable which need to be controlled. It is not the most exciting bit of code to write either, but will happen one day.
