has anyone tried it? saw a bunch of the minis painted up in another thread and I thought they looked phenomenal.
I've been wanting a skirmish game for a while and nothing jumps out at me. Don't like warmachine or malifaux. Lord of the rings is cool but its just going to die out once all the movies are over and it stops getting supported. i was looking at some of these minis to use in my Fantasy armies but seeing there is a game attached... looks pretty cool.
I demoed it for about 200 people at GenCon, and it was very well received. The rules system is a bit crunchier than some others, but it all makes a lot of sense and is really great.
and the unit musters (army lists) for the kindreds (factions) here (some will allow you to build a full list, others are at present good for allies only).
Yeah, the printed Quickstart rules were finished a few months ago (notice they are using printouts in the video)
Very granular and crunchy system from quick read through, haven't played it yet.
"...and special thanks to Judgedoug!" - Alessio Cavatore "Now you've gone too far Doug! ... Too far... " - Rick Priestley "I've decided that I'd rather not have you as a member of TMP." - Editor, The Miniatures Page "I'd rather put my testicles through a mangle than spend any time gaming with you." - Richard, TooFatLardies "We need a Doug Craig in every store." - Warlord Games "Thank you for being here, Judge Doug!" - Adam Troke
They've altered the firing into combat rules here apparently.
I get what you mean by crunchy, it reminds me a bit of 3rd/4th Warhammer/40K where you needed to look up results on tables, although don't think it would take long to get the table remembered.
Yeesh 5 kickstarters? No wonder no one has heard of this game.
Kickstarters get you the money you need, but spend too much time fulfilling and dealing with them and that's the only audience you get.
Considering how much they nab in their kickstarters, I guess that just works for them. But they haven't been doing anything else to get the game actually played.
Which is sad, because it looks good and we need some more fantasy games out.

Most of the Kickstarter money goes to contracting the artists and sculptors, keeping them booked so they don't get hired by other companies.
Other than that, Mierce has a very specific manageable sustained growth, so they do not become a victim of their own success. They produce the finest miniatures in the world, after all.

Vertucio - Yeah, if you read the Mierce thread in the News & Rumors section of this site, you'll see people expressing things like that the last few pages. They really need to get the rulebook out and try to grow the game... amazing sculpts are just that, but with their current tack, only a handful of people worldwide will be playing their game, with the rest just using them as display pieces or counts as.
Their window to get the game traction is now, imo, before 9th ed fantasy hits. But the rulebook kept getting pushed back, and an unrelated Kickstarter is scheduled for January. They really need to get that book out, and try to break into a wider audience than their several hundred Kickstarter backers!
