Howdy, pilgrims.

Long time lurker here, first time poster. Thought it was about time to get a bit more active in the online wargames community. So where to start? Well, it may as well be the last thing i finished!

So, here are my Pre Heresy Death Guard Grave Wardens. They are done. Apart from adding a couple of transfers, whenever i can find the damn sheet (curse my messy flat!). And I'm quite pleased with how they turned out.

Comments and (constructive) criticism are most welcome.

Welcome to Dakka!

Very nice batch of marines you have there. I love the white/ivory/brown color you did. Looking forward to seeing more of your work (even if you look to be a filthy heretic)

Third picture: The darkened area on the neck-guard (can't quite call it a gorget or bevoir) is way darker than on the rest, and the transition thereto is quite stark. Clean that up - it just looks like you missed an area during highlighting/blending.

You said you've lurked, but I wanted to break you in (firmly, if not outright offensively), just in case you weren't prepared for the productive but blunt criticism that occasionally happens, here. The higher the quality of your painting, the more people have to nitpick to give you any feedback beyond "Nice!" Based on these models, you should expect rather focused criticism, in the future - you're already getting very nice results!

The Dreadnote wrote:But the Emperor already has a shrine, in the form of your local Games Workshop. You honour him by sacrificing your money to the plastic effigies of his warriors. In time, your devotion will be rewarded with the gift of having even more effigies to worship.

I've been following you on Instagram, the models look even nicer on the desktop than on my phone! (Easier to comment here too.) I agree with oadie's gorget comment, and the transfers you mention will take them up a notch too.

I'd consider adding a light dusting around their feet, to help them feel like they're walking through the terrain and not 'on top' of it. A subtle, thin wash of grey would probably work (doesn't need to be too heacy).
