Hi guys n gals

Please can you suggest a chainsword scabbard suitable for my Srg

Ideally I want a bit I can just glue on and was thinking the stern guard hand on swords scabbard but is this too slim for a chainsword? Or can you think of a better option?

I'm not aware of any chainsword scabbards. You'll probably have to make one from plasicard.

IIRC from the fluff, most marine gear, particularly the bulky stuff, if just mag-locked onto the armor. So no scabbard, just some magnetic clamps.

Not that this info helps your modeling project, but it does explain the lack of bits.

At best it'd be a half holster (like, less than this)

That said, I am buggered as to where you would put it, given the pistol holster is crossdrawn and you have grenades on the other hip.

You could lop off one of the power pack's big round vents and stick it there, like how tempestus scions have their lasgun holsters slung on the side of their packs.

If you've ever played the Space Marine video game, you'll see that gear just attaches magnetically to the armour, at the hip or back of the waist.

Yep a Chainsword would make more sense to just mag lock onto the marine. But this is a time I'm turning a fluff blind eye sorry should have said that in the OP.

The reason I want a scabbard (there's room next to the grenades for one) is that a scabbard is really good for adding a sense of movement to a model.(take a look at the infinity knights models)

As the Srg is supposed to be running and slicing I'd use a scabbard to show that movement more.

That and scabbards are cool

You could try to make one out of strip styrene and greenstuff. It would be decent amount of work, but it's probably the best way to go about it.

To make sure it's the right size, you could take a regular chainsword, cut off the handle and put a thin layer of Green Stuff over the rest so it looks like a Chainsword would fit. Then you'd need to add details ect.

Have you considered having a sheathed combat knife there instead? As per the fluff, all Ultramarines carry a Gladius as a backup ccw, and this would probably give the same effect but be far less blocky/obtrusive.

Because of the blockiness of a chainsword, it may just look weird having a scabbard that looks big enough to actually hold it. most anyone who sees it will probably quip, "don't they just maglock anyway?" ha. I like the look of of a scabbard in the models profile, but one for a Chainsword that actually looks functional may just look goofy. If you reeaaaallly want one, plasticard and GS will be your best bet. Just get another Chainsword, remove the handle, file down the edges a little, cut and glue the plasticard, and fill gaps with GS.

What is best in life? To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women. Grrr.
