I'll be really crushed if the new Necron Dex nerfs the viability of a list like this. The more I see 7th moving toward an extremely mechanized meta, the more I'm inclined to believe that Necrons just have a huge edge. Take the list below, I don't think there is a rival Dex that can field that much mobile haywire while simultaneously maintaining power and efficiency across the board. 32 mobile haywire shots neatly tucked in amongst an already very strong, very optimized kind of list is just so appealing. With the below list you could even drop all the kit off the Overlords, run them naked in the ghost arks, and add a big unit of deathmarks with 2x despairtek in a night scythe for a dedicated deathstar/MC/WK/RT/elite destroyer.

HQ - Overlord w/ Warscythe, Mindshackle Scarabs, Semp Weave, Phase Shifter
Catacomb Command Barge

And I actually see both options being really relevant, as the deathmark unit is exactly what you want against a scary deathstar, but if you are facing heavy armor lists those kitted overlords are disgusting: str 10, 2+3++ tank busting, wound sharing, sweep attacking beasts.

Does look pretty brutal, haywire does seem broken when you see it in this context, 32 shots that auto-glance on a 2+? AV anything doesn't stand a chance.

Quite a nasty list. Definitely keep option A though in my opinion.
The only thing the list would be lacking is anti MC and teq, which the CCB lords to great at. The deathmarks arent quite as good anti MC and doesnt provide the same pressure aspect that the barges give.

Well, I'd keep the list as it is. Really nasty.

Agreed, which is why that's the primary build. Just trying to highlight the versatility the current necron codex gives, will be sad to see if they change it drastically. People rumor that night scythes and annihilation barges will get a price increase and that tesla will get nerfed some what. I think that if tesla gives +1 hit rather than +2 it will still be fine, and I think the annihilation barge and night scythe going up to say 120 points per model is a reasonable change while still leaving them currently intact. If the price goes up more than that the wheels start falling off the current builds significantly. I really hope crypteks go unchanged, I don't think there overpowered and they certainly aren't over-fielded. I've seen one site suggest that night scythes should be restricted to elite units only, I think this is ludicrous and would really kill the army overall.

While this list is good, you have a huge weakness.

If you play a Tau player with 3 Riptides with FNP, you've got almost nothing to effectively kill them with if the Tau player is smart and kills your Lords.

Same goes for Eldar, if someone brings 3 Wraithknights.

You thinking the deathmark squad would be better? Or something like doom scythes? Necrons have a lot of ways to destroy AV, but busting through T8+ can be an issue overall.

As far as I can tell these are the units that can deal with riptides or wraithknights:

Deathmarks with despair or lance teks thanks to hunters from hyperspace, don't see much of a downside to them.

Triarch Stalker, just no...

Doom Scythe, seems OK, don't like the one and done aspect of a unit that might come on turn 2, might not.

Doomsday Cannon suffers from the same one and done issue, also the fire prism if-you-jink-your-screwed issue.

Heavy Destroyers are actually a really nice unit in theory, just way over priced.

Warscythes - best packaged on an overlord with a CCB, which I have, the other units that can carry them are slow and would need to be delivered to the kill target.

I think my Overlords as set up are really hard to kill, I like my chances against 1 to 2 riptides / wraithknights, but I agree one more unit that can hurt them consistently would be good.

Riptides are easily dealth with, they have what the IA which is S7 so glancing on a 6? Force wounds on it.

Wraithknights...again force the wounds. if you really need that AP2, Warscythes and LanceTeks should do it, maybe dropping some upgrades on the CCB to field them.

Would not make too many changes...it is a dirty list to play against.

I like what your doing here. I dont know how long you have been playing, but fwiw I used to play necrons in 4th. Back then they were even more horrifying on vehicles then this list is (all gauss glance on a 6). Based on how I see the change codex to codex and the 7th meta, I would be very surprised if necrons became better at vehicle killing in their next codex. Please don't read this as a critique of the really bang up job you did above, more an opinion on part of your lead In To your list. And tbh this makes me rethink my feeling abit on dual WK lists that I mentioned in one of your eldar army lists

Thanks for the good feedback, I agree that they are clearly pushing vehicles so I don't think we can expect any buffing in that department, and I'm fine with that, I think necrons are fine as is, I just hope they don't nerf the haywire shots or scarabs even. Though scarabs will lose a lot of value as is if super heavies become more common. It all comes back to the beauty of those glorious assault 4 haywires!
