For those of us who are planning on a repaint for our little ships, has anyone found a good way to strip the storebought paint from them?

I'm wary as I'm not familiar with the type of plastics used and don't want to melt the models, but also unfamiliar with the paint and want to remove it effectively.

Mostly, on my phone.

Well, I didn't strip mine, but using heroclix logic, I would say nail polish remover and cotton buds (see, I know that I don't need to tell you that's a Q-tip ) You could soak them in the remover but they'll become a bit rubbery.

Yeah, for the most part I don't think that you need to strip these as long as you're using light layers. Really all I've done though is do a light wash on some of mine (though at some point I'd love to repaint some of the most heinous ships).

Mr Clean with Frebreeze. I used them for my 40K minis and works great. Need about 24-36 hours, but it's bio friendly and as the wife says, smells good.

Stay away from Pine Sol. Works awesome but made my test piece Hormagaunt's claws go limp. Also Pine Sol can be harsh on the hands, leaving an irritating feeling on your hands, or slight burn. Break fluid but again, really harsh and can't be flushed down the drain without getting into trouble. Other people say Green is good also.

I like Mr Clean because it's easy on the hands, easy to dispose of, and works really good.

Reading from other posts, a lot of people just prime the mini without stripping the paint and say they have no problems with it.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?
