So I read in the BRB that unless stated, barrage weapons still allow cover saves. Now if you fire without LOS, how are cover saves determined? I assume that if you fire a Barrage weapon w/ LOS cover saves are applied as normal.

I believe you count cover from the center of the blast template outwards.

Barrage always checks for LoS from the center of the blast regardless of direct or indirect fire.

The second bullet point of Barrage (p160) tells us, for the purposes of cover saves and wound allocation, to "assume the shot is coming from the centre of the blast marker". So if the centre of the marker is one side of an Aegis and the closest model is on the other side, it will get a cover save even if it is in full view of the 'real' firer. Note that this applies to both direct and indirect firing with Barrage weapons.

And assuming you still treat terrain as area terrain, you always get a cover save if you are in it. Think of it as a branch overhead even if the hole lands on you.

So, the only real way to get cover saves from Barrage is from Venomthrope style AOE or Ruins terrain or getting lucky on area placement? Sucks to be my opponent

Yeah, I love it, but somehow, people aren't fans of that... oh well, shatter their skies.

Wait until your blast deviates into guys in a building, let the poorly-worded rules fight begin!

Also, mass barrages make opponents cry.

So, exactly how high off the table is the template held when you're drawing LOS for cover? This makes a huge difference since you may or may not be able to see over cover even if the template is on the other side of it.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

I press the template down onto the models with most of my body weight to get it as close to the table as possible.

(Alternately, cooperate with opponent on height. We are reasonable adults, after all.)
