I was just wondering if someone more knowledgeable about trek lore than me, could give me a run down of what time periods ships are from.

Because as far as I can tell older ships are noticeably weaker than the modern ships and I want to try some time specific games.

I'd roughly break down the time periods to 3.

Enterprise era. 22nd century. 'A' - archer.


Original Series era. 23rd century. 'K' - Kirk.


'Modern' era. Consisting of Next Gen, DS9 and Voyager series ships. 24th century. 'P/S/J' - Picard, Sisko, Janeway.

I would never have guessed the prateus was an archer era warbird as it fits the modern green aesthetic more. Also it makes the kirk era warbirds stand out.

That's the reason I've decided to replace both ships in my fleet with 'PSJ' era alternative models from shapeways. To represent lesser known modern vessels, rather than the odd idea of 200 year old ships zipping about with warbirds.

There was a comment at a Con a few years back by one of the Enterprise writers that has led to some fan speculation that they were in fact 24th century Romulans in the minefield episode. Personally I don't mimd going along with that theory

Everything in Enterprise looked more high tech than the stuff a century later oddly enough....

It was funny in the "In a mirror darkly" episode seeing how antiquated the supposedly more advanced Defiant was!
