Just thinking out loud really, but came about from my none gamers thread. Just wondering if it's possible to have a game online? Pictures of the gaming board sent back and forth? Is it a possibility? After all chess players manage? What do you think?

I'm pretty sure historical players occasionally do stuff like this, although I believe it's often more abstract and less defined than a 'wargame'. As for games like 40k, there's Vassal that allows you to play online, although it can be slow.

I attempted to use the 40k module on Vassal and could not get it to work.

There is a website called Roll20.com. Traditionally, it's used to play pen and paper RPG's over the internet, but it's system is just robust enough that you can rig it to play tabletop wargames too (it has ruler). The only short coming is that it uses a grid or hex system, but I think that ultimately it's only a minor hindrance.

Thanks guys, I was just thinking and by the sounds of it it isn't ideal?
