So, I'v been getting back into fantasy lately, My group stopped near the start of 8'th edition because they wanted to play 40k and as it ended up, We only played 40k since then.. I was a bit worried that I wouldent enjoy Fantasy as much as I used to, but after a couple of matches I found, I still quite like it! The list building is harder then 40k, But it is a good and fun game ^_^

Anyway, I kind of want a new army, I want something that survivable, Tough hard stuff, That can hit hard, And got lords and heroes that can kick ass in combat and survive a beating! The armies I have played are Wood Elves, Skaven (Yay.. One hour to deploy all the models, Two hours to take them off the table..) and High Elves. I'm not super big on magic and normaly only have one mage, And not always a level 4 mage either, Infact, Mostly I stick to a cheep mage.

The armies I'v been looking at the most are Dwarves (They are awesome..) And Lizardmen, And Warriors of Chaos.. XD Anyone got any recomendations for tough survivable hard hitting army, That dosent fully rely on magic or range or warmachines (But able to use them is quite fine, As long as they arent forced to spam it)? Whats the pros and cons of these three armies?

I also dont play in any competetive enviorment, Just for fun matches.

Lizardmen are decently tough, though WoC are tougher bastards in melee, and have the toughest standard infantry in the game. Dwarves are also rather tough, but from what I've seen, don't actually deal the most damage, but rather they can take a good amount of hits. If you don't want to focus heavily on magic, Dwarves are good sense they have no magic at all. Lizardmen actually have access to some pretty good magic, but you'd probably never utilize it, so eh.

Also, have you taken a look at Ogres? They are one of the toughest melee armies, could get away with one wizard just fr some Beasts buffs, and are very hard for a lot of people to deal with, me included.

Can't speak to dwarves since I don't play them but I know for certain that they don't have magic and do rely on war machines.

Lizardmen are a good but I wouldn't consider them to be hard hitting. Saurus warriors have slow slow sloooow initiative but there are pretty strong. You will probably (okay you WILL) be using a slann (arguably the best caster in the game) or tetto'eko if you want to switch it up so you will be using magic quite a bit. They have cool monsters like the stegadon, bastilidon, salamanders which are all good.

Warriors of chaos would probably be my choice if I were you baed on your asking of hard hitting. They have good magic, good heroes and lords who can dish are pretty good choose price wise as well.

That would be a few things to about out the pain and their main blocks of warriors, knights and chosen are hard hitting.

i think lizardmen would be a good choice. They don't have to run hordes if you don't want to, but they're still a mobile and interesting army. Dwarves can be made non-static, but it means ditching a lot of their flavour and special units. WoC are always a good choice.
