Hey guys, I am pretty much a beginner to warmachine and wargaming in general. I mostly collected and assembled/painted miniatures because I liked the way they looked. However, since I kept buying menoth minis I decided to put my growing collection to full use and actually get into the wargarming aspect of the hobby. I really liked the knights exemplar models and the exemplar bastions, and after speaking to some more experienced players in my local hobby shop I was informed that I could use eKreoss and field a nice weapon master list. Lots of cool infantry, lots of slicing and dicing. Here is my attempt at a 50 pt list with al the models that I liked. I will most likely scale down for lower point games but id like to get 50 pts worth of units up ready and painted. here is my list:

50 pt Menoth Weapon Master list

High Exemplar Kreoss 5
Crusader 6
Knights Exemplar (6) 5
Knights Exemplar (6) 5
Knights Exemplar (6) 5
Exemplar Bastions (Leader and 4) 8
Exemplar Bastions (Leader and 4) 8
High Paladin Dartan Vilmon 3
Knights Exemplar Seneschal 3
Exemplar Bastion Seneschal 3
Daughters of the Flame (6) 5

51/50 pts

Now I know thats more than 50. I am stuck on my last couple of unit choices. first off, I am really tempted to remove the crusader from the list since i am focusing on mostly (only) infantry. I am a total noob in this game and I was wondering if not having any warjacks puts me at a severe disadvantage. will my heavy hitters be able to handle jacks?

Secondly, I have a few ideas on how to spend my final points. I want to know what you guys think or if you guys have alternative suggestions. Here are my thoughts:

Scenario one:
I would remove the crusader completely which brings me down to 45 points. For the 5 points i am considering adding one of the following:

1 unit of daughters of the flame - I am having ideas of them sneaking up behind units and popping ekreoss's feat so they can murder whatever their targets are. since they are probably the fastest unit in my force I will use them to either assassinate high value targets or do sneak attacks on light infantry

1 unit of flameguard cleansers- I really really like these models. My ideas for them are to stand back, and protect my war caster by literally setting themselves on fire. I have no offensive intentions for this unit. My purpose for them is simply to hang back and hold the back line while my entire army lurches forward. I mean, who wants to charge a unit with flamethrowers?

2 paladins of the wall - i too, love these models (2nd variant pose) i read up on their abilities and they make great brick walls. I would probably have these guys guard flanks or stay close to the eKreoss and protect him. I am a little hesitant giving up a warjack for 2 solos. I am also concerned about the lack of defense I have for my warcaster with little to no bodies to protect him.

1/2 unit of temple flame guard- Honestly, Id rather take a full unit and move some stuff around. but a half unit to stay back and defend would probably be what id use these guys for

Character Solo High Exemplar Gravus- Not really sure on this guy. His Crusader's Requiem and Brother's keeper are the traits I really like on this guy. have exemplars die around him to piss him off and have him wreck face with weapon master. also, he makes exemplar units around him a little bit harder to stop so they can keep on marching. Id plop him in the middle of a huge knights exemplar block and have them lurch their way towards the enemy.

2nd scenario - keep the crusader, drop either the unit of daughters and 1 knights exemplar unit (brings me to 40 points) and add 2 light jacks (repenter/devout)

The problem i see with this option is that I have no choirs to beef up my jacks. Baseline stats on menoth jacks are somewhat lacking without some sweet tunes to kick ass to. I would probably drop another unit to make room for the choir for this to be effective.

Sorry for the long post.. I have most of the models stated above already and I'm pretty close to getting my 50 pt force ready to play. If you have any thoughts, suggestions, criticisms, ideas or anything please feel free to list them here. I would really like to hear from you guys so I could field an army that I am happy to play with and at the same time have a chance at winning a few games. I am not looking to be the best player with the most competitive list (to me thats kind of boring) I just want to play with models i like assembling and painting and if possible, I can put them all on the same force and be somewhat competitive. Thanks in advance guys

High Exemplar Kreoss is actually Kreoss1, aka pKreoss. I suspect that the shop was talking about Grand Exemplar Kreoss, aka eKreoss or Kreoss2. Kreoss2 has a great theme force that you could fit most of those models in, although High Paladin Vilmon isn't permitted in his theme force.

The list I like to run with Kreoss2 is a Tier4 Crusaders of Sul list:

Kreoss2 (+6)
Fire of Salvation
Bastion Seneschal
2x Knights Exemplar Seneschal (1 free due to tier)
Errant Seneschal
Vassal Mechanik
Max Bastions
Max Errants + UA
3x Knights Exemplar
Daughters of the Flame.

You also get the benefits of the tier with a larger deployment zone, advance move on some units and a free seneschal.

That list looks very similar to the one I am building. exemplar errants look pretty cool as an addition to knights exemplar and the bastions. My question is, is there any flexibility in swapping out units and still get the buff?

There is a bit of flexibility in the theme forces, but not much. They are quite restrictive by nature and the tier bonuses are a way to compensate for that. With this theme force you can take pretty much anything that is either an exemplar or a flameguard.

The Kreoss2 theme force usually ends up being an infantry swarm of weaponmasters who hit disproportionately hard once they get into melee due to the feat.
