Subject: GK Anti-air Options?

Without looking to allies, what options do GK have for anti-air?
Obviously Stormravens, but what other units would could at least partially fill the gap?
Psyflemen got nerfed and are now more expensive and -1 STR, but would they still work? I guess I don't really even understand how they're even used as effective anti-air anyway since they have to fire at BS1... maybe somebody can explain?
I have a couple Stormravens enroute but are not going to be here for my upcoming games where I am guaranteed to play versus at least 1x Flyrant, likely 2x... any tips with how to deal with them? I ignored them last game successfully until he got off a crazy Psychic Scream which killed two Nemesis Dreadknights and some Paladins in one go so this time around I think I'm giong to have to target prioritize them even though it wastes a lot of firepower having to hit only on a 6.

Honestly...I just look to Prescienced Psycannons when the need strikes me.
I've never had to deal with an all air force. Automatically Appended Next Post: Your best bet is the allied space marine 2 talon/and a raven detachment/formation.

It's sad what GW did to GKs....
I think nothing else than "Prescienced" NDKs with Hpsycannon, or dreads with autocannons or lasscannos.
Gw should give Skyfire to dreads, or purgators... but nooooo....

I built my Knights army at the end of 5th and all through 6th. Until 7th all of my lists auto included psyflmen dreads for anti air. They were really effective if you took 2 because you got 8 str 8 shots a turn that were twin linked. so you got 16 chances to roll a 6. at str 8 to flyers mostly AV12 you needed a 4+ to do a hull point. With my Grey Knights the object was never to blow up the flier (although when you could still do this on a flat 6 it was a nice treat), glances were so much easier to get. I averaged 3 glances a round on most fliers. Now they are slightly less effective needed 5 to glance and 6 to pen. Everyone, myself included, has been saying that dreads are not worth it in the new codex, mainly because they lost a lot of effectiveness when they lost psybolt ammo. I also think a real problem is they are an elite slot now, which competes with purifiers, the only reason you would take a non deep striking force IMO but I digress. Like most units, Dreads are useful siltuationally. If you know you are facing tough flier like crons or chaos, or your meta is really flier heavy, or if you just field a lot vehicles or non paladin/purifer lists, the rifleman dreads are still a viable option. Take 3 with a 90 pt tech marine, put them in some ruins or behind cover that the marine improves to a 3+, and gun down anything av11 and lower in 48 inches. and if you need accurate anti air, drop 1 dread and add an aegis defense line with quad cannon. Have the marine use the gun when necessary and repair the 2 dreads. It is a little expensive because that comes out to be 480 points ( that's 2 and a half dread knights) but it basically comes out to 24 chances to hit the flier, and but it will do what you need it to. I'm not that good at statistics but you should hit and glance/punch a quarter of your shots so around 5 to 6 shots at whatever you are shooting at, which isn't bad in an army with no dedicated, affordable anti air.

Indeed, Dreads are not as bad as people thinks, but, for almost the same price you got a NDK with psycannon, 6 hits S7, rending. is not bad. (of course, half range)

Why half range? Monstrous creature makes the NDK relentless doesn't it?

He means a Psycnnon's 24 inch range is half of an Autocannon's 48 inch range.

Kinda want to avoid the stormraven (although I'm really not too sure why) so thinking of taking an aegis.
Mainly just because it's cheap.
Really doesn't fit with what I want my army to represent thought which makes me sad.

Then you should really take a bastion or redoubt and throw purifiers in it.
