Hi there, just looking for some comments and criticism on this list and if anyone thinks it has a chance in a small tournament.

I have come up with a fluffy way to explain why Thousand Sons might ally with a Chaos version of Legion of the Damned so if anyone wants to know just ask. I am primarily using Legion of the Damned to deal with Wave Serpents and Imperial Knights.

1700 points

HQ

Be'lakor - 350pts

Sorcerer (lvl 1) with Mark of Tzeentch, Spell Familiar - 90pts

Troops

Unit of 5 T.Sons in Rhino - 185pts

Unit of 5 T.Sons in Rhino - 185pts

Fast Attack

5 Chaos Spawn - 150pts

4 Chaos Spawn - 120pts

Legion of the Damned Detachment (Allied Detachment)

5 Legion of the Damned 1 with Meltagun, 1 Multi-melta, 1 Combi-melta - 155pts

5 Legion of the Damned 1 with Meltagun, 1 Multi-melta, 1 Combi-melta - 155pts

5 Legion of the Damned 1 with Meltagun, 1 Multi-melta, 1 Combi-melta - 155pts

5 Legion of the Damned 1 with Meltagun, 1 Multi-melta, 1 Combi-melta - 155pts

Basically the idea is that Be'lakor can deal with flyers and/or Wraithknights while casting Invisibility on whatever needs it most.

The Spawn babysit the Rhinos while also rushing the opponent to keep them in their deployment zone.

The Legion of the Damned Deep Strike in and take out Jinking vehicles or Imperial Knights

Any idea how this list might perform?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers

Cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeese!

Please post your fluffy explanation for all to see though, we would love to see how you've justified it

Also, for desperate allies you are going to have a nightmare rolling all those 'one eye open' rules, and your LotD are going to be the victims of some unintended psychic/special abilities effects from you chaos boys as they are treated as 'enemy units' in such circumstances.

Still, will probably perform quite well. Have you thought about throwing in a couple of Grey knights too?

If in doubt, frag it out...

Here is a post I made on Reddit about how I would use Legion of the Damned from a fluffy point of view: https://www.reddit.com/r/Warhammer/comments/2gung9/idea_for_chaos_legion_of_the_damned/

Ya it is just my way of using cheese to combat cheese while still attempting to 'forge a narrative' heh

Also with my LotD Deep Striking in it should make it a little easier to keep them over 6" away from each other. (and obviously 12" at the start of the game).

if LotD are deepstriking then make your CSM long range gun line with Noise Marines and then creep up to get mid objectives to avoid One eye open rules.

In the last 2 turns, you can move rhinos carrying your troops far with flat out moves. Not as far as wave serpents that can reach the back field but far enough.

I think you might have forged the narrative so hard you broke it.

Actually, if you are using it to combat cheese then it is not so bad I guess, and it is at least very creative - which is what this game is supposed to be about, right? Plus it is always nice to see Eldar not getting it all their own way.

Out of interest, why combine LotD with Chaos? Are Thousand Sons your main army? You could probably do just as effective a list with GK/LotD combination, but without all the desperate allies stuff.

If in doubt, frag it out...

Yes Thousand Sons are my main army. And are also the only army that I have had interest in creating/playing since 1998.

I have also thought about having large squads (15-20) of Thousand Sons just walking up the table and hopefully not giving up first blood (as a Rhino might do) before the LotD can take out a vehicle or two. Although I know walking up the table in the current meta is almost never a good idea! But I think completely destroying a 15-20man squad of 3+, 4++ models should give me at least one if not 2 turns for the 4 units of LotD to drop in. (and hopefully be 12" away)

An idea came to my mind after reading your list. That is Papa Nurgle creating some hollow-warriors-of-doom-whoose-skin-is-so-rotten-only-bones-are-there.

1700 Crimson Slaguhterers & LotD

Typhus
Sorcerer (Daemonheart, The Balestar of Mannon, ML3)

32 Zombies
10 Zombies
10 Zombies

Heldrake

2 Obliterators (Mark of Nurgle)
2 Obliterators (Mark of Nurgle)
10 Havocs (4 Autocannons)

Aegis (Quadd-gun)

5 Legion of the Damned (triple melta)
5 Legion of the Damned (triple melta)

Sorcerer looks for ignore cover, rerollable 2+ armour save, rerolls, invul.

I actually agree with you about the Rhinos - generally for me they move 6" and everyone spills out, move another 6" and spend the rest of the game footslogging. The rhinos invariably turn into fireballs on your opponents next shooting turn, and I hate to lose a 10 man tac squad before its mini's are even on the table.

Usual tactic for LotD lists is to hunker down with whatever you have on the pitch behind an ADL, buff the cover save (go to ground or psychic/special rules) then add a comms relay to help get the LotD in second turn.

If in doubt, frag it out...
