Me (eldar) and my friend (tau) are probably going to be playing a game soon, this is going to be my first proper game and i was just wondering if there are any tactics i could employ against his Deathstar.
I don't know to much about it but he said there were going to be 6 Crisis Suits with Farsight and Shadowsun they are all going to have 2x fusion blasters. and I think 10 marker drones. (I think he is going to be deep striking for reserves)

my list is. . .
HQ
Avatar w/ Fast Shot
Farseer on Jet Bike w/ Singing Spear, Wraithforge Stone

Troops
5 Dire Avengers
3 Jet Bikes
3 Jet Bikes

Dedicated Transport
Wave Serpent w/ TL Scatter Lasers, Shuriken Cannon

Fast Attack
Crimson Hunter

Heavy Support
Wraithknight w/ Suncannon and Scattershield, Scatter Laser
Wraithknight w/ Heavy Wraithcannons
Wraithlord w/ Scatter Laser or maybe a starcannon, Flamer, Ghostglaive

Any suggestions on what i sould do to destroy it or hold it up?

Put the avatar on an ADL w/ Icarus lascannon? (It has interceptor, right?) - check the rules on this one.

Nightspinners are good vs suits I believe.

Otherwise - needs moar wave serpentz!!

Benefit of the Avatar is that it'll be immune to the Fusion Blasters, but anything else is going to be blown to bits when the suits land and start blasting stuff with ignore cover, tank huntering melta.

You'll want your squishy bits bubble-wrapped with 9" of room or in reserve.

And to try and charge his death star with the Avatar and 2 Wraithknights at the same time.

Just a quick question could I put the Avatar in reserve an bring him in from there would that be a good idea?

Also I'm not to keen on ditching the Avatar at the moment, I know that if I want a more competitive list he needs to go but he is my lol unit and he looks really cool.

If they deep strike, they'll be pretty bunched up. Some template weapons will cause a lot of wounds. Wraith guard with scythes maybe?

Would be a good idea, but the opponent should know not to deepstrike next to that. Also, not sure if OP has those models.

Keep Avatar on the board (and take Disarming Strike). He has enough trouble getting to a good melee.
Aim to deploy second so you can confirm he has his Deathstar in Reserve. Put your Wave Serpent and WK+Suncannon in a corner and have Avatar + Wraithlord about 12-18" in front of them and leave no other room for his Deathstar to drop in. They are going to be the targets he wants to deepstrike onto. Once he does deepstrike, Charge him. Now mobilize the rest of your army to focus on the rest of his. You should beat the Deathstar in melee, but a few important steps:
CHALLENGE WITH AVATAR. If he declines, pick Farsight to sit out of the melee (since he will have the AP 2 weapon). If he accepts with Farsight, Disarming Strike that Dawn Blade. Wreck his face (don't smash, less attacks).

My two cents. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Thanks Farseer Pef I will defiantly challenge and use that layout very good idea. I really don't see much point in taking disarming strike because its bearly going to hit with a 5+ and then he will also need like a 4+ to wound (i think) it just seems like a waste of points, besides the Avatar already has 5 wounds and an invulnerable save so i would prefer to keep the points on something a little better for now.
