Looking to get into the necrons. I am currently playing grey knights and would like an army that has a bit of a different feel/lore, and have it be xenos (and the affinity for silver is nice too).

Curious if the Necron battle force is a good starting place?

It is most definitely worth it. Start with that and a barge kit

It most certainly is. Gives you your basic troops (And a full squad of them, too), the option to have some tougher infantry (Immortals), or they can be built as an Elite unit (Deathmarks), you get a Transport, which is arguably one of the toughest in the game, and of course, you get Scarabs!

One of if not the best battleforce available. with just a second reasonable priced plastic kit you can start playing and even have a solid tac-list for that point level.

Playing mostly Necromunda and Battletech, Malifaux is awesome too!

As others have said, it's great!

As a starting point, just add an Annihilation Barge, build the Overlord on foot, and you can build a nice solid base of 800 points or so!

Well, it is a very good starting point.
I've started Necrons in the 5th ed using this box.
I must admit that I've sold the Ghost Ark at ebay because the next purchases were flyers and now I have an army based on Wraiths and flyers.
In the new edition, with objectives secured, Ghost Arks make much sense.

The Necron Battleforce box is a great place to start.
I was told that if you were building a Necron army right now that you should get 2 of the battleforce boxes and that it will provide a strong core to your army.

Enjoy your new army and have fun out there.
