Sword-Wielding Bloodletter of Khorne

Hi, im starting up orks in the near future and really like the savage ork models and would love to incorporate them into the army. When looking at the models i can imagine them with wild dredlocks (similar to pics included), but when i look online i cant find any useful tutorials :/. I was wondering if any of you guys had any links you could send? Or give further advise :p

Thanks guys

Well, obviously the success of the modelling will depend on your sculpting ability, but I'd say try misshapen worms of greenstuff (lumpy rather than rolled out evenly), twisted up and with some texture possibly added in.

The texture could be done linear like hair, or rough like jeebus knows what else would be growing out of an Orc's head.

I wouldn't recommend making the worms 'lumpy', just tapered. As someone who's mom had dreds (down past her waist) until I was over ten, I myself have had dreds at multiple points in my life, and my father has had dreds as long as I've been alive, dreds are not very uneven, dirty, lumpy, or all of the "stereotypical" things if they're done correctly and actually maintained.

I sculpted some on a test model a ways back, ill try and take some pics when I get home from work today.

How I found to work:

-For the locks: roll cylinders of green stuff, let them cure partially, then roll the partially cured tubes on very rough grit sandpaper to add texture.

-For the entire look: start at the base of the neck and work toward the forehead, adding the locks in rows to get the layered effect.

As morganfreeman said, dreads can range from very even and manicured to more "wild." if I were doing dreads on orcs, I would probably make them more uneven than even.
