What are some cool themed armies that involve low model counts?
For instance, an army of all drop pot + dreadnaughts...not sure which faction of Space Marine
Disclaimer: must be effective or at least somewhat effective.

Nidzilla lists with Hive Tyrants, Carnifex and bigger bugs. I have a 2000 point non-competitive list of Nids where no bug has less than two wounds. 22 models and 59+ wounds. Other Tyranid players would optimize it for smaller model count and much more wounds so mine just scratches the surface of low model count.

Space wolves company of the great wolf can bring 1 HQ dread and 8 elite dreads for a legal force org list.
Chaos daemons can bring 2 greater daemons, 2 units of 6 nurglings and 3 daemon princes (or 1 greater daemon I am sure)
Space wolves can also go full on wolfy, with 1-4 HQ on thunderwolves, 2-8 elites on thunderwolves, and 1-3 units of TWC if they so choose (but they don't have to) the whole army could be dudes in runic armor on thunderwolves.

Nidzilla. Take a couple ripper swarms, and cram the rest of the list with monster bugs.
Daemon Flying circus. 3 Heavy Support Daemons + Greater Deamon HQ + Be'lakor.
Grey Knights nemesis strike force lists. Draigo + Libbys + Dreadknights + not much else.
The Space Wolves 6HQ detachment. You can make these with 6 Wolf Lords on Thunderwolves + not much else.
Eldar Seerstars /w Wraithknight support.
Space Marines are actually rather bad at doing the low model count thing.

Tyranid MC Brawl. 1750 points, 96 TL S6 shots. Scoring MC, 3+ cover for everything behind the Termagants.
Walkrant, 2x TLDEV
Walkrant, 2x TLDEV
Tervigon, ESG (Troop)
Termagants x30
Venomthrope
Venomthrope
2x Dakkafex
2x Dakkafex
2x Dakkafex
***************
If you're concerned about the Gants (which increase MC survivability significantly!) then drop the Tervi and Gants in favor of a few squads of Warriors. But that's not nearly as good in game terms, just model count.

Troops: x3 LR executioner (~250 points each)
LoW: Baneblade/Shadowsword/etc (~500 points)

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices. |

Ultramarines Tyrannic War Veteran Formation. Two squads of five Vets, Cassius, two Land Raiders as Dedicated Transports and six Skytalons. Add groups of five Vets and Land Raiders as needed to reach the points value.
