Hey guys, can anyone recommend an (relatively) easy game for two players? I play warhammer, 40k, things like that but my Girlfriend does not. She wants to find a game she and I can play together that is along those lines, but not nearly as complicated. I got Super Dungeon Explore, but two player wise it's a little boring over and over again. I also own munhckin but once again, 2 players is just eh... Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Twilight Struggle is designed to only have two people play (U.S. vs. U.S.S.R.). It's essentially political Risk but it actually has a finite play time (it's based off the Cold War which did end after a while). The political aspect of it also makes it more entertaining than Risk.

Orks: 3000
Chaos Daemons: 1750
Warriors of Chaos: 2000

How BIG of a game are you looking for? Any mechanics in specific? Do you need to have miniatures involved?

If the answer to any of those questions is No.. then this list might help..

Jaipur (middle eastern trading game)
Agricola: All creatures great and small (building a farm)
Hive - (insects swarming, kinda chess-like)
The Duke (a dueling game involving moving fighters around an arena)
Mage Wars (2 wizards dueling in an arena, again, but real-life spellbooks to build your wizard with)

Star Realms (sci fi deckbuilder from a shared library)
Ascension (fantasy deckbuilder from a shared library)

by Flying Frog Games are pretty heavily themed board games with single play rules.

In Fortune and Glory you are Indiana Jones esque pulp heroes traveling the world, going on adventures and fighting against various evil organizations over mysterious artifacts.

In A Touch of Evil you are basically playing Sleepy Hollow the game - you are various investigators in the 19th(ish) century who have traveled to a small town apparently beset by a monster. To save the townspeople you have to search the town and it's surroundings, investigate the Town Elders ( who may be a great help to you, in league with the monster or the monster itself) and finally track down the monster and hopefully kill it.

Both play quite well as single player games and are thematic enough to work as a role playing experience. Both also have expansions to add to the core game - FanG has a hero pack and a new villain organization pack; AToE has I believe two hero packs (each with a new monster as well), two big box expansions - each with a new area, 4 new investigators and 4 new monsters. (Something Wicked & The Coast).

I heartily endorse either.

-also good with two players since you are playing against the game. You can play them co-op or competitive as the situation dictates; plus in my personal experience I've had a lot more luck introducing women to more thematic games such as these over european style games.

You play 40k? Easy? Space Hulk. It's still floating around on shelves. It's definitely "along those lines". You can't go wrong with it-some of the best sculpts GW ever put out, solid rules, tons of fun. It's $125, and you won't find discounts for it (not anything beyond local store standard discounts), but it's worth it.

Yes, people, I recommended a GW game!!

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Cooperative?
Arkham Horror, but it's complex the first few times. Play with someone that knows it well
Pandemic. Simple, but hard as hell. I win about 50% of the time.
Castle Panic. Fun, but fairly easy.
Gears of War board game. Lots of different cards might make it look complex, but it really isn't. Fun game.
Pathfinder Adventure Card Game. We spent HOURS last winter playing this one. Easily our favorite game.

Competitive?
Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring deck building game. Simple, games last about 30 minutes, and fun.
Scrabble. I'm not one for Milton Bradley and Parker Brothers games, but this is a real classic.
Constantanopolous.
Kingdoms. Fast-paced, screw-your-neighbor-game.

The D&D boartdgames (Ravenloft/Ashadalon/Drizzt) are also simple and easy fun within the theme, using simplified D20 rules.

I'll also recommend Pandemic.

My wife scoffed at me when I brought it home (she's not much of a gamer) and I asked her to give it a chance... she ended up really enjoying it even though we've never beaten it!

I will throw in Arcadia Quest as being really good for 2 player. The balance is good and the missions don't at all suffer from being 2 player.

There is also a WWII-themed game called Memoir '44 made by the same people that put out Ticket To Ride. It's a 2-player game that is pretty much like wargaming-lite.

They can be fun with two players too! And they are cooperative so no (or less) fighting with your GF!

I'll third or fourth or whatever.

Keep in mind: the less people playing Pandemic, the easier it is -- one of the main obstacles to winning can be effectively communicating with the other players.

And still, communicating that in no way guarantees success! All it takes is one bad card draw to doom the entire team.

Like Wil Wheaton said on TableTop: I've had more fun losing Pandemic than I've had playing lots of other games.

Space Cowboy Cruising Around Olympus Mons

Carcassone hands down.

Such a simple yet fun game. Works better with 3 players but its pretty inexpensive and super simple to learn and its fun.
Also it's not a nerdy game and you can buy expansions for it too if you do like it!

I enjoyed gears of war with the girlfriend. It's coop against a AI controlled deck with miniatures on the board.

Im not a huge fan of pandemic. I think FlashPoint Fire Rescue is our favorite co-op.

Caverna is amazing with two. (All of Rosenbergs are, really)

Krosmaster arena is fantastic.

Rivet Wars is great with two player.

Arcadia quest is very fun 2-player
