So after the realisation that I wouldn't be upgrading my existing PC, Dell the bastards and their proprietary components, I've been looking at a new one to either build or purchase.

The one I have been looking at is this

Which seems pretty good for the price and specs

I was a little worried about the mobo as it's only a mini atx with 2 ram slots, but the 8gb it comes with is in 1 stick, so can always upgrade with another 8gb if I need to. The 8gb ram is by Crucial so should be ok. The 750 Ti only requires a 300w PSU so the 500w it comes with should be good enough.

Alternatively I have been looking at building the equivalent, it should be a slight bit better, but a bit pricier.

I've got an 80gb 10000rpm HD spare at home that I am thinking about putting the OS on and a 500gb 7200 rpm for everything else for the time being. Will probably get an SSD for the OS down the line.

I could just get a new HD drive though to save messing about, but adds to the cost.

Now Novatech aren't the cheapest out there, but they aren't much dearer than other places, they also do 12 months interest free credit. So can get it now and save up the rest of the cash as I only have 300 quid for it at the moment.

What do you think, build or buy?

Have a look at the thread I posted a few weeks ago, some of the discussion there might be useful.

I have, I posted a few things there myself

I'm going the Intel route rather than AMD

Anyone give some advice?

If you want to build yourself a high-end computer for gaming, I'd suggest looking at cyberpowerpc.com. They let you choose the parts, then they build it, and ship it to you.
As far as what you're looking at...
Power supplies will lose their capacity overtime. So, that 600W you're looking at will eventually go down to 550, then 500, then 450... You won't notice it immediately, but one day your computer will shut down, or won't start up, and it'll be due to the power supply crapping out. Instead, go for 1000W. A little excessive (and more pricey), but more likely to holda much better charge for a longer lifetime.
