This weekend is part five of 'me-losing-to-kevin' (I'm kinda bad at this game).

He's taking Tyranids - a list along these lines:

2 flyrant w/TwinBLDev, hive commander
2 zoanthrope
2x 16 hormagaunts, AG (to be outflanked)
deepstriking rippers (3 broods maybe)
2x crone
3x 2 biovore

I'm with Imperial Fists. I have access to:
chapter master (or captain) on bike w/TH/SS
2x 10-man tac squads w/rhinos
1 terminator assault squad
1 5-man devastator squad (all lascannons)
storm raven

fortifications - 2 bunkers, 1 defence line, 2 vengeance weapon batteries
drop pods (many!)

Various bits aren't built or are in the post... I'm hoping my two stormtalons arrive in time! I also have a godhammer pattern land raider and a stalker/hunter still boxed.

Can anyone recommend a good build given what I have available, suggest squad loadouts and tactics to help me finally beat the dreaded housemate?

Play at 1,000 points?

Looking at your units and ballparking points, you look to be stretching to get to 1,250 with your units. Taking all the fortifications might get you there, but you hardly have the bodies to man them all.

You just playing shoot ‘em ups, or objective missions? Because keeping an eye on the victory conditions might be your best hope. With all the flyer spam he should have trouble scoring.

Against that list you need more AA. And I’m not sure you can win the air war. While the 4xLC squad might be great vs. other foes, you might consider MLs or HBs.

take a typhon heavy siege tank. lol

jokes aside, are they TH/SS terminators?

They seem to be really good and holding down MC's and should soak up a lot of fire from bids.

I'd suggest running your marines as Iron hands too... for FNP. (sorry fluff!)

You should definitely play at a lower points level.

Using just what you have though;
Take an ADL with quadgun and a MM/AC/hurricane bolter Stormraven.
CM with (SE/AA/TH/Bike) rolls with the 5 Assault Terminators, drop your OB on something T5 and/or 2+ at your first opportunity, keep them sitting back in cover until the enemy moves something big, close to your lines and then charge.
Tacs with FL/HB combat squad or stay together, but lock down the ADL and two objectives and make the nids charge a wall of fire. Keep your Rhinos safe till later turns to swoop objectives.
Use Devs as having MLs and sit them in cover behind your line and krak/frag as needed.
You could take drop pods with deathwinds and drop them empty on the opponent to drop plates on them to get to 1250pts.

You should definitely build that LR if you want your Assault Termies to really do well, and consider some bikers to roll with your HQ.

- For Macragge, Guilliman, and the Emperor
They're one of the legions with the lost Primarchs, their primarch currently wandering around dazed and confused in an alternate reality where he is known as Jean Luc Picard.

And swap from Codex IF to the SofT IF you want the short range Bolter driller to deal with assaults.

And make him play at lower points level were you can actually field effective points.

I can proxy some bikes from my ravenwing, and I have an LRC painted in deathwing colours too.

I should be getting stormtalons delivered - it's close whether I will have time to assemble them before the game though!

I think I will use the lascannon devs as proxies for ML's with flakk.

List looks like:

Chapter Master (SE, TH, Bike, AA) - 250
Terminator Assault Squad (2x TH, LRC w/Multimelta) - 470
Bike Squad (Sgt+4 bikes) - 105
Tactical Squad (Fl, ML, Rhino) - 195
Tactical Squad (Fl, ML, Rhino) - 195
Devastator Squad - 4x ML, Flakk - 170
TFC - 100

I am 15 points short. I could put flakk on the tac ML's? (I can go 10 points over if need be).

Or put a special weapon on the bikes.

Other option is terminators in a storm raven for more AA.

I'd take the weapon batteries with Lascannons (the Redoubt is better but you don't have it).

You'll need as much AA as is practical.

After that, you have a strong advantage in scoring units so push onto those objectives.

I'd give the bikes a grav gun as a first choice and a lightning claw if you wanted them to fight in melee.

Grav spam bikers are a wonderful thing. I run grav/grav/grav pistol and a heavy bolter attack bike with my IF/SoT

Gives a real punch against pod armour saves for an army that is quite S4 heavy if set up fluffy
