Is it worth it?

I'm messing around with it, and although it's definitely really tough, it's a gajillion points, and I can't help but feel like the point of Hassassin is the light infantry, and other factions would do the heavy infantry link better. (Heck, even QK has the advantage of using Hafza to get it kinda cheap.)

As a "for example" list (that's actually probably not very good).

Asawira links are hard to pull off outside of 400pts. But your list is about right for 300.

Personal advice - is bring a Najjarun Engineer and something else for supporting them like some special weapon Ghulam and drop the Fiday. That link is super order hungry and you'll only get to use that or the Fiday.

The reason for the Najjarun is simple - if they get EMP'd, hacked or glued you'll want a way to get them back in the fight. Not much point spending 60pts per model if your not going to make sure they stay in the fight.

I'd find a way to stick a hacker in there. The Barid is 26 points, 0.5 SWC and worth it. You need a hacker in your list anyway, or a TAG-- which Bahram does not have, since you have a remote. Currently that list is illegal.

Asawira are fun, but they are tricky to play. So, try your list a few times. With the hacker of course.

Good advice, all!

The Najjarun is a good pick up -- it's funny, part of the reason I'm messing around with heavy link teams is that they seem pretty popular, and I feel like playing a few games with them will help me understand what gives them fits.

And good catch on the Remotes needing a hacker. I guess, strictly speaking, I don't need that REM, but I was thinking total reaction would help with locking down a zone in a list with only a few very strong units.

(This was a "can't sleep, must make list" list, can you tell? ; ))

No worries. I make lists on my Nexus7 during my weekday commute-- by train, not in the car.

This thread gave me the Asawira bug. I've tried putting my own list together.

Barid is there for defensive hacking and objectives. Doctors are mainly for objectives as well. The Najjarun is for objectives and un-glueing/EMPing the Asawira.

The Ghulam Panzerfausts are there as flank blockers. Getting into an ARO with a Ghulam is one thing. Getting into an ARO with a Panzerfaust is another. No one likes being smacked in the face with one of those. The sole Muttawi'ah is there because my regular opponents love their HI (particularly links of them), TAGs and REMs. Having an 11pt model that can potentially remove a HI link of TAG from the game in one shot is nice and scary.

The main issue I have is I can easily fit a second Asawira Spitfire, but I don't want to buy two Spitfire models. In fact, I don't even want to buy two AP rifle models. I'll probably be buying just the one AP rifle Asawira and proxying a Jannisary at least a few games to see if I like the link enough to want to buy a repeat model. Also considering dropping the Ghazi to a chain rifle to fit in a couple of Nasmats for the Najjarun, so he can unglue them without getting into the line of fire.

It occurred to me that this list leaves plenty of SWC to toss around -- the panzerfausts are great idea.

I have the same aversion to repeat models, but I can't help but feel like a little bit of green stuff and a different pose will make a big difference.

I sorta wonder how this stacks up vs. other common HI link teams -- with all the regen and doctors, the Asawira are probably on the "hard to kill" side!

Their ARM 3 makes them pretty fragile in the reactive phase. Even MI can get access to ARM 3. Regenerations makes them monsters in the active phase, because they can take a shot in ARO and regenerate back. If your opponent wants to, an Asawira will go down in the reactive phase. Being a 3 model link helps mitigate this by giving them a better burst in ARO, but it's not much more of a bonus.

The problem with the Asawira poses is they're very unique. The AP rifle is in a sprinting pose wih its arms crossed, and the Spitfire is stepping off a large rock. You could easily do a weapon swap on the Spitfire, but reposing them is a real challenge. And not one I care to undertake.
