Hi! Been working on this for the past few weeks, it was initially just going to be a 2' x 2' tile to display my blood angels on but im liking it so much i may do a full table

Anyway, heres how things look so far (ignore the cup, its just a standin for the statues base).

Thank you! The main walls are foam core with styrene sheet on top. The buttresses and interior walls are just sheet styrene. As you can see ive included spare panels and walkways from the GW factorium set.

Very nice use of foamboard and plastic bits! Definitely a good way to maximize the use of the kit and make some better looking buildings. This is what I did on a few, but you're looks much better

I think it would look even better if you added something to make the foamboard look less... bland. Simple things like adding strips of styrene with rivets around edges. Maybe some slightly textured paint. Some little details to break up the flat detail.

An easy way to add detail to bare walls is with embossed plasticard.

You can put it all over, or add details around the corners, or sort of columns of exposed masonry.

Thanks guys! It's hard to see in the crappy photos but I have stippled on textured paint to the main walls which will be drybrushed during the painting stage.

You know how the manufactorum building tiles are surrounded by a metal band with rivets on each side? I'd add that to the sides of your pieces. They sell sheet styrene that is shaped to fit corners well. Then all you need to do is add rivets. That's the only thing I would add, but it looks great. Can't wait to see it paint up!

Quick questions, did you use or make a template for cutting the foamboard? I'd be interested to know the dimensions you used for the protruding angled sides.

Well it's time for an update i think! Heres how the tile is looking now. I added a sand/gravel, ova glue and plaster texture to the base and used various washes, wood stains and sprays to get the main colour of the earth and building down. Added a few details too. Next up is going in with the paintbrush to colour all the details

No worries! I know what you mean about motivation. I got so bored of looking at this in its unpainted state i almost tossed it in the bin but decided i would continue on and im very glad i did!

Nice looking board, is that giant space marine a piece of gw terrain or something you made? I have been out of the hobby for awhile now so I am not sure.

Thanks! The marine statue is from the "honoured Imperium" terrain set (which also comes with the large smashed aquila and shrine debris part).

Here he is all painted up and on the base i made for him....

That terrain tile looks very nice, maybe a little clean, you'd expect more debris around the smashed sections, despite that it really is fantastic.

Did you make the arch tops on the base of the statue yourself?

Just a heads up there is a bit of a terrain building scene on dakka if you didn't know.

Thanks! Yeah maybe a bit clean but it is a display board first and foremost so didn't want too much clutter taking up miniature space, plus theres a load of wall inside the building thats fallen inwards, ill snap a photo round the back soon

I did make the arch tops myself, sculpted one, moulded it, flipped it over, moulded that then cast 4 of each for the corners.

Once i made one base i moulded the whole thing so i could cast a 2nd. Will snap a photo of them both once the varnish has dried.
