The Eye of Terror

I wrote this small poem. I haven't really done that many poems ( I have two on Deviant art) so this is technically my third poem ever. I had the idea for it and just started writing it
I have referenced a few people from the interwebs (I'll give you a imaginary cookie if you can guess witch ones)

The Nails pound in my skull
Their waspish stinging allowing only anger
Their spiteful buzzing washing through my muscles
Adrenaline surging through my veins

I see the enemy across the battlefield
Standing in useless defiance,
Thinking they can stand against the Eaters of Worlds
Imagining they can prevail against our might

I look to either side and see my sons with me
The nails in their skulls bringing them only rage
Warriors who took the mutilation I had gone through willingly
Hoping to match my brothers and sisters so long butchered

If I didn’t have the nails I maybe would love them like my gene-brothers love their sons
Stand with them as a beloved leader
As a father and comrade
I want to be that person but I was broken so long ago

Kharn, my equerry stands reading for battle,
Eager to kill, rage clear on his face

Lorimar stands resolute, commanding the rage in his veins with an iron fist
Like he commands his brothers, unified and eager to hunt,

Delvarus readies himself and his warriors, ready to challenge the greatest warrior he sees,
Ever a son of the sands

Saggitar Phract stands with the Devourers, at my side now, but not for long
A band of killers pledged to protect a being that needs none

The Rampagers and Butchers stand together for a while, straining for slaughter like chain beasts
Lost warriors only wanting blood

Others warriors I see in the line, the Worldbleeder, Kain, Dreagher, Cruentus, Malek, Bardolf;
Warriors with skill, good fighters and loyal sons

Then I’m running and so are they, roaring and shouting
We crash into them, weapons swinging, blood flowing
And as I descend into the red haze, I look at my sons

And I am proud

yes that was from Angrons perspective

C & C welcome

Eating Michael Douglas to know what its like to get some action from Catherine Zeta Jones probably wouldn't work

I like it a lot. It's nice when a work goes beyond the usual RIP, TEAR, KILL, BLAARGH! depiction and really captures the tragedy of the World Eaters.

40k is 111% science.

The Eye of Terror

@fallinq- Thank you! I have to say I love The Princess and the Plague!

The more human side of the world eaters isn't really seen enough in the fiction IMHO.
I like to think there's more to Angron than the usual ANGRY, KILL, NOW! that you seem to see. he loved his fellow gladiators like brothers and sisters so there is at least a softer, more human side to him, its just not seen due to the butchers nails and the fact that what happened at De'shea scarred him so much I don't think he can actually express his feelings properly

In the battle line
Where the killing is fine
You've got winning, you've got winning
you've got winning on your mind
Have a drink have a drive, go out and see what you can find
